Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position inherently involves providing excellent customer care to our Petco full-service Vetco Total Care hospital clients. The Concierge represents the mission and values to all customers and is typically the first and last person a client encounters when entering our hospital. The Concierge is responsible, like all team members, for fostering cohesion and motivation within the practice.

Essential Job Functions
The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities

Assume primary responsibility for answering the practice phone and routing calls appropriately.
Maintain hospital appointment calendar including scheduling appointments from callers or visitors and reviewing on-line bookings.
Greet all visitors to the practice; greet clients and patients by name as they arrive for appointments and notify technical staff when they arrive. Monitor wait times and make accommodation as necessary during peak/busy times, or when medical staff is dealing with an emergency situation.
Participate in the training of new staff members and general dissemination of knowledge as required.
Ensure that the waiting area is consistently cleaned (including using special disinfectants in the case of the presence of suspected contagious disease) and well-stocked with appropriate materials.
Confirm all appointments by client's preferred communication method (phone, email, text) the prior day, and make necessary adjustments.
Possess basic understanding of practice logistical specifics in order to provide backup support to technical staff when rooms need to be loaded or patients need to be discharged and primary staff members are otherwise occupied.

Nature of Supervision
In all activities related to the care and handling of patients and clients, the Hospital Concierge will take direct supervision from the Hospital Office Manager and Hospital Leader on Duty
Planning and Problem Solving
Like all team members, the Concierge plays a crucial role in ensuring that day-to-day operation of the hospital is efficient and provides an optimal experience for our patients, and clients. The Concierge has the primary responsibility of consistently ensuring that the hospital workflow is optimized, which may require rescheduling appointments as well as maintaining an open line of communication with clients who are present in the practice and may need to wait longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances (emergencies, etc.). The Concierge must ensure that the scheduled appointment duration is situation-appropriate (i.e. consider number of pets, sick/vs. well, etc.).
This role is unique in the hospital in that the Concierge will often be the first or last person dealing with upset or even potentially unhappy clients. This role requires an individual who is compassionate yet adaptable and flexible, and capable of not only doing what it takes to make the client's and pet's experience in our hospital optimal but also ensuring that the medical staff can focus on delivering excellent care. At times when these goals may seem to be at odds, it is the job of the Concierge to formulate strategies that accomplish both.
Impact
This position will impact the organization by contributing to the growth of productive practice while focusing on a high-quality standard of care. From an overall hospital organizational standpoint, this position is critical to ensuring that our client's first and last impressions of our facility and staff are optimal.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no immediate supervisory duties.
Education/Experience
High school diploma is a requirement.
Must have at least 1 year's previous experience working in veterinary practice or a customer-facing role in another organization.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be compassionate and sympathetic and be able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
Must have exceptional telephone and computer skills.
Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
Preferred: Previous experience using a Practice Management System

Work Environment:
Job duties are to be conducted in the Vetco Total Care full service veterinary hospital. This position may involve bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time. Work Environment:

As an Operations Specialist - Omni you'll be responsible for the operational execution within the Pet Care Center with specific focus on our Omni channel, through the lens of Petco's vision of “Healthier Pets. Analyze on-site/actual conditions in comparison to written plan, identify necessary corrections and recommend alterations as necessary and troubleshoot resolution.
Coordination with Pet Care Center/Field partners to ensure actual fixturing, floor plan setup, stocking and SFS equipment is completed according to plan and if changes are made that they are properly communicated.
Communicate with the Pet Care Center Leaders upon completion of day on any remaining unfinished orders, SFS WIMR screen correction information for the Pet Care Center to complete at end of day.

Education and Experience

Ensure that all companion animals and aquatic life in the PCC are receiving appropriate care. This includes ensuring that all companion animal and aquatic life maintenance, companion animal incident reports and hourly animal health checks are completed as required.

Be proficient within our selling model and support guest interactions as needed.
Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for our guests.
Complete and apply training programs to maintain a high level of expertise of their role and educate other PCC partners in animal care and maintenance.

Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Evaluate guest inquiries and refers to the Leader on Duty as needed.
Act as primary resource for guests and other PCC partners regarding all animal education and care.
Efficiently orders companion animals and aquatic life, supplies and merchandise in partnership with the sales team to maximize sales, margin, and inventory.
Analyzes department inventory management data and recommends areas for improvement.
Perform routine housekeeping tasks as required to maintain the professional image and appearance of the companion animal habitat and aquatic areas, to include sweeping/mopping the floors, dusting, cleaning the tanks, facing the merchandise on the shelves, etc.
Ensures the proper handling and documentation for all relinquished and adoption animals.
Verifies animal related maintenance tasks are being completed as outlined on the Maintenance Schedules.
Participates in the completion of all animal and aquatic life related physical inventory counts.
Adheres to and promotes established safety and loss prevention procedures.
Performs additional duties and projects as required or assigned with or without regular supervision.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Qualified applicants will possess a high level of knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life and an aptitude for sales techniques. In addition to having a professional appearance and demeanor, applicants must also demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in animals and their care. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the PCC as well as external veterinary partners.
Certification
Completing and maintaining of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required in this role.
Education/Skills
In addition to a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), an applicant must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of mathematics and basic accounting relationships and exhibit exceptional communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility
Ensures that the Pet Care Center is opened and / or closed in accordance with established P&Ps as it applies to SFS operations.
Adhere to and promote established safety procedures for partners, guests, and pets.
Work Environment
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors, although guest carryouts and veterinary visits will require that a partner leave the PCC briefly. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from not following procedures. Ability and willingness to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to meet PCC needs.

Position Overview
As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You'll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You'll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life. You will ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center in close partnership with the sales team to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s. You can excel in this role by exhibiting a passion for the welfare, health, and proper care of animals as well as being a positive partner within the whole Pet Care Center team.
