Position Purpose:
The purpose of the Hospital Operations Manager is to provide daily leadership to our hospital and partner with Hospital Veterinarian(s). The Hospital Operations Manager partners with our retail store partners to provide a smooth and profitable operation by creating a culture of high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service, as well as driving revenue and managing costs. The Hospital Operations Manager represents the mission and values of the hospital and Petco to all clients. The Hospital Operations Manager coordinates the overall operations of the hospital and cultivates a supportive and collaborative team environment by fostering cohesion and motivation within the team. Essential Job Functions
The essential duties and responsibilities that are required of this position. This section includes the primary accountabilities or duties of the role. The Hospital Operations Manager must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Lead hospital paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence, efficiency, high standard patient care and excellent client experience.
Create productive, collaborative and seamless relationships with all veterinarians in the hospital to drive a positive culture and cohesive team environment.
Point person for all day-to-day functions of the practice including, but not limited to - veterinarian and support partners scheduling, equipment function and maintenance, inventory control and ordering, proper invoicing, patient scheduling, team training, radiological safety program and handling elevated client concerns.
Oversee hiring, training, reviewing, counseling and separation of paraprofessional partners, in partnership with AOM (Area Operations Manager) and Human Resources Business Partner.
Assume scheduling responsibilities for all paraprofessional partners, with the expectation to schedule a minimum of two weeks out. Maintain all hospital partner points in accordance with Petco's punctuality and attendance policy.
Create and maintain doctor's schedule with support from Area or Regional Medical Director as needed.
Review P&L monthly reporting, and partner with Area Operations Manager to increase revenue growth and exceed financial targets set by Finance team.
Escalate partner or client issues to Area Operations Manager, Area Medical Director and/or HRBP as required.
Interface and collaborate with Petco store team to drive a seamless complete care customer experience.
Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results to doctor and clients, maintain and update hospital inventory, maintain client/patient records within the practice management system and manage accounts receivable.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; maintain OSHA standards, perform and maintain regular cleaning of environment based on necessity as well as based on a pre-determined maintenance schedule
Uphold and enforce all policies of Petco and Vetco Total Care.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient care always comes first.
Any issues with patient clients or hospital partners are dealt with and resolved as they occur, or as soon as is possible.
Exceptional teamwork and commitment to achieve shared goals to benefit the entire company of Petco.
Collaborate with the Retail Team to drive a positive cultural and cohesive team environment
Provide backup front desk support as needed including answering telephones.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Nature of Supervision:
The incumbent reports to the Area Operations Manager.
Planning and Problem Solving:
The Hospital Operations Manager must possess excellent planning skills while scheduling the hospital paraprofessional partners in order to ensure adequate coverage while making sure the hospital does not exceed forecasted payroll costs. The Hospital Operations Manager will also play a crucial role in ensuring that day-to-day operation of the hospital is efficient and provides an optimal experience for our patients and guests.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position includes 1 or more direct reports (Veterinary Technicians, Vet Assistants, and Concierge partners) with daily responsibilities that include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring/coaching, assignment delegation and partnering with Human Resources on discipline up to and including termination.
Minimum Requirements:
2-3 years previous experience working in a veterinary practice. In lieu of veterinary experience, must have 2+ years of strong leadership experience.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to make decisions, delegate tasks and responsibilities and drive results with hospital partners
Must be compassionate and sympathetic and be able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
Must have telephone etiquette and basic computer skills.

Assume primary responsibility for answering the practice phone and routing calls appropriately.
Maintain hospital appointment calendar including scheduling appointments from callers or visitors and reviewing on-line bookings.
Greet all visitors to the practice; greet clients and patients by name as they arrive for appointments and notify technical staff when they arrive. Monitor wait times and make accommodation as necessary during peak/busy times, or when medical staff is dealing with an emergency situation.

Like all team members, the Concierge plays a crucial role in ensuring that day-to-day operation of the hospital is efficient and provides an optimal experience for our patients, and clients. The Concierge has the primary responsibility of consistently ensuring that the hospital workflow is optimized, which may require rescheduling appointments as well as maintaining an open line of communication with clients who are present in the practice and may need to wait longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances (emergencies, etc.). The Concierge must ensure that the scheduled appointment duration is situation-appropriate (i.e. consider number of pets, sick/vs. well, etc.).
This role is unique in the hospital in that the Concierge will often be the first or last person dealing with upset or even potentially unhappy clients. This role requires an individual who is compassionate yet adaptable and flexible, and capable of not only doing what it takes to make the client's and pet's experience in our hospital optimal but also ensuring that the medical staff can focus on delivering excellent care. At times when these goals may seem to be at odds, it is the job of the Concierge to formulate strategies that accomplish both.

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience working with and/or caring for companion animals and aquatic life is required for this position. Qualified applicants will possess a high level of knowledge of companion animals and aquatic life and an aptitude for sales techniques. Under supervision of the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician, assistants will maintain patients safely under anesthesia while monitoring vital parameters, help monitor patients during recovery and prepare them for hospital discharge or transfer to an overnight care facility.
Under supervision of the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician, perform in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous fluid therapy; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by doctor), safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
Under direction of the HOM/HLOD, assist in the training of new staff members and general dissemination of knowledge as required.

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this Veterinarian Technician position inherently involves providing excellent veterinary care to our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners. Essential Job Functions:
The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities

Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins and escort into an exam room, obtain weight and vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, pain score, body condition score), record all in the electronic medical record, and begin documentation of the patient visit in the electronic medical record by obtaining and recording a thorough patient history.
Assist veterinarian with appointments (routine and emergency), surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia's, taking direct supervision from the veterinarian(s) and the Hospital Office Manager or Hospital Leader on Duty.
Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications at the direction of the veterinarian, and maintain the electronic medical record.
Schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results to doctor and clients, maintain and update inventory as well as client/patient records, and manage accounts receivable.
Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, safely support induction and monitoring of anesthetized patients including checking and recording vital parameters (under direction of the veterinarian), monitor patients during recovery, and prepare them for discharge to owner or transfer to an overnight care facility as needed.
Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous therapies; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by veterinarian), and safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
Participate in the training of new staff members and general dissemination of knowledge as required.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; perform regular cleaning of environment based on necessity as well as based on a pre-determined maintenance schedule.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed.
Nature of Supervision:
In all activities related to the care of patients, the Veterinary Technician will take direct supervision from the veterinarians as well as the Hospital Office Manager or Hospital Leader on Duty. For purposes of overall supervision, the Veterinary Technician takes direction from the Hospital Office Manager.
Planning and Problem Solving:
Like all team members, the Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that day-to-day operation of the hospital is efficient and provides an optimal experience for our patients and clients.

Education/Experience:
College or college-equivalent education (completed) as required in becoming a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state in which the hospital is located.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment:
