What Youll Do

What Youll Do
Field & Office Integration

What You ll Do Equipment Operation & GPS Setup
Operate GPS-enabled heavy equipment (dozers, excavators) safely and efficiently on active job sites.
Set up GPS machine control systems daily, including base stations, rovers, localizations, site calibrations, and coordinate systems.
Understand and clearly articulate how the GPS system functions including control points, alignment files, surfaces/models, design files, and GPS corrections to ensure accurate and consistent performance across the crew.
Verify grades, slopes, and elevations against plans and digital models.
Support operators and foremen in setting up and running GPS and machine control systems.
Training & Field Support
Serve as the company s GPS and machine control subject matter expert and primary trainer.
Teach operators, foremen, and field personnel how to properly set up, initialize, run, and verify GPS systems (Leica, Trimble, Topcon).
Explain system functions in clear, practical terms including model loading, site control, calibration, offsets, surface selection, and troubleshooting.
Troubleshoot GPS, rover, and machine control issues; coordinate vendor support as needed.
Assist in developing and standardizing GPS procedures, best practices, and field checklists.
Model & Data Management
Load and maintain 3D models, localizations, and project control data.
Collaborate with survey and estimating teams to confirm design accuracy and data alignment.
Manage GPS equipment software updates, data backups, and field data consistency.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work closely with superintendents, project managers, and survey leadership to align GPS data with construction needs.
Provide field-driven feedback to improve efficiency, accuracy, and project outcomes.
What We re Looking For Experience & Skills
Minimum 3 years of heavy civil construction experience as a dozer or excavator operator.

What You'll DoEquipment Operation & GPS Setup
Operate GPS-enabled heavy equipment (dozers, excavators) safely and efficiently on active job sites.
Set up GPS machine control systems daily, including base stations, rovers, localizations, site calibrations, and coordinate systems.
Understand and clearly articulate how the GPS system functions - including control points, alignment files, surfaces/models, design files, and GPS corrections - to ensure accurate and consistent performance across the crew.
Verify grades, slopes, and elevations against plans and digital models.
Support operators and foremen in setting up and running GPS and machine control systems.
Training & Field Support
Serve as the company's GPS and machine control subject matter expert and primary trainer.
Teach operators, foremen, and field personnel how to properly set up, initialize, run, and verify GPS systems (Leica, Trimble, Topcon).
Explain system functions in clear, practical terms - including model loading, site control, calibration, offsets, surface selection, and troubleshooting.
Troubleshoot GPS, rover, and machine control issues; coordinate vendor support as needed.
Assist in developing and standardizing GPS procedures, best practices, and field checklists.
Model & Data Management
Load and maintain 3D models, localizations, and project control data.
Collaborate with survey and estimating teams to confirm design accuracy and data alignment.
Manage GPS equipment software updates, data backups, and field data consistency.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work closely with superintendents, project managers, and survey leadership to align GPS data with construction needs.
Provide field-driven feedback to improve efficiency, accuracy, and project outcomes.
What We're Looking ForExperience & Skills
Minimum 3 years of heavy civil construction experience as a dozer or excavator operator.
Proven experience operating with GPS or machine control systems (Leica preferred; Trimble and Topcon valued).
Strong understanding of grades, elevations, slopes, and digital model interpretation.
Ability to teach, coach, and communicate with crew members and field leaders.
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting ability.
Basic IT proficiency (iPad/smartphone for reports, uploads, and equipment tracking).
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or model files is a plus - not required.
Education & Training
High school diploma or equivalent required.
OSHA-10 certification (or ability to obtain).
Additional GPS/survey training is a plus.
Survey background is beneficial but not required - we will train the right candidate.
