PGP company history timeline

2002

PGP Corporation acquired the code and rights to the name from Network Associates (NAI) in August 2002.

2004

In 2004, the company announced plans to integrate with Symantec anti-virus technology.

2005

The company released version 9 of the software in 2005.

2007

The current specification is RFC 4880 (November 2007), the successor to RFC 2440.

2009

In 2009, Callas left to be a security consultant.

The second developer hired, Hal Finney, went on to become the bitcoin network's first transaction recipient in 2009.

2010

On April 29, 2010, Symantec Corp. announced the acquisition of PGP Corporation for about $300 million cash.

2014

Support of EdDSA will be added by draft-koch-eddsa-for-openpgp-00 proposed in 2014.
