Summary The Cultivation Controls Technician (CCT) is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of all systems related to the cultivation and curing of cannabis. These systems include but are not limited to lighting, temperature, humidity, irrigation, and CO2. The skillset required for this role is a hybrid of technical aptitude and knowledge of indoor cultivation practices. In addition to day-to-day operation, this individual will be responsible for carrying out and assisting in development of strategies aimed at constant improvement of crop performance and resource use efficiency. This position requires collaboration across multiple departments within the organization. Pay for this role ranges from $23/hour - $26.44/hour ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily monitoring of all system data points to ensure proper operation of equipment and control system programming Immediate reporting of any abnormalities in system performance to supervisor and appropriate parties for repair/maintenance Assist in diagnosing the cause of malfunctions to support repair/maintenance process Implement new strategies in lighting, climate, irrigation, and CO2 as directed to achieve improvements to the cannabis cultivation process Regularly take field measurements to audit the performance and accuracy of automated control systems Assist in the preparation of reports on cannabis crop performance based on environmental inputs (temperature, humidity, CO2, lighting, air movement, fertilizer, and water). Collaborate with cultivation farm team on reviewing impact of systems on plant growth and pest management Participate in rotational on-call support for after-hours troubleshooting Support in the maintenance of equipment controlled by Damatex and Wadsworth Control Systems. Clean and maintain all areas, equipment, and material throughout the work area. Perform daily walks throughout the cultivation facility to visually inspect equipment operation and plant health Test equipment in the field as needed Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to assisting other departments to help facilitate the additional and/or supplemental work, such as, harvesting, trimming, packaging, cleaning, and light maintenance as needed throughout the facility. (This is not a primary responsibility for this position but may be required as needed) Workspace and Material Maintenance Maintain organization and cleanliness of immediate work area and shared spaces. Ensure all equipment and tools are properly maintained, calibrated, transported, and stored. Keep and maintain equipment maintenance and repair logs. Compliance and Reporting Must be able to secure appropriate work credentials from the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission. Follow all state and federal compliance regulations, as necessary. Report any violations of compliance regulations to management. Supervision This position works under the direct supervision of the Cultivation Controls Manager Working Conditions Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, and warehouse environment. Able to work in typical agricultural conditions, wearing cover-all uniforms and/or protective layering. Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily. Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required. Job Qualifications Work Experience At least three months experience working with automated controls systems. This can include cultivation related systems or other commercial processes. One year of work experience in a related industry or work environment preferred Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel and Word). Understanding of computer networking preferred Experience working in a fast-paced production environment preferred. Demonstrates attention to detail. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work as part of team. Knowledge and background in commercial cannabis cultivation strongly preferred. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. College education or technical training preferred. This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Axogen regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines, assembly and review, processing, debridement, cleaning, safety, cleanroom behavior and documentation as needed. Participate in daily stand-up meetings, continuous improvement projects, adhere to established work practices like Kanban signals, and 5S initiatives. Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
