The Director of Pharmacy Operations will lead end-to-end pharmacy operations in a high-growth environment. This includes leading all aspects related to continued rapid organic growth, including increased pharmacy volume output, workflow optimization, automation, staffing, credentialing / licensing, and implementing other operational processes as appropriate for scaled, sustainable success. Covers specialty and infusion medications, including Home Infusion and through the company's 50+ infusion centers. Ensure all performed with the highest standard of patient care and regulatory compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set, measure and achieve key pharmacy performance metrics, including growth, operational effectiveness and efficiency, and financial goals. Execute changes as required to meet targets (individual performance, staffing, tools, workflow, etc). Provide weekly reporting on KPIs.
Remain in the day-to-day workflow with the team, including personally processing scripts and patients as needed. Stay current on all workflows, operational pain points and opportunities.
Recruit, train, lead and coach members of the Pharmacy team. Drive individual and team performance management. Foster a high-performing culture of best-in-class patient care, accountability, quality, inclusivity and respect.
Identify and drive infrastructure requirements to accelerate growth of home infusion line of business; includes but not limited to credentialing, payor access, partner contracts, key role additions, etc. Communicate plan, timeline, resources needs, and provide weekly report out on progress.
Serve as Pharmacist in Charge.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered pharmacy services. Collaborate with clinical teams to provide comprehensive medication management, patient education and patient care.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant changes to regulations; implement internal updates and educate others as needed to maintain compliance.
Support requirements to obtain or sustain third-party accreditations (e.g., ACHC) or reporting requirements for payor contracts.
Implement best practices for inventory management, medication safety, and quality assurance.
Develop and implement policies and procedures where required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
Current pharmacist license in good standing with the state of operation.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in pharmacy operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Experience in home infusion and/or IVIG pharmacy operations.
Experience with medication counseling, drug and medical supply procurement, inventory control, risk management, quality assurance, and third-party reimbursement.
Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, medication safety, and quality assurance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and drive operational excellence.

The Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) / Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the pharmacy department within a high-acuity infusion, specialty and oncology pharmacy. This role ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations, oversees clinical and operational functions related to sterile compounding, and maintains the highest standards of patient safety and quality in the preparation and dispensing of IV infusions, IVIG, specialty medications, and chemotherapy agents.

Leadership & Management

Operations & Quality

Ensure timely, accurate, and safe dispensing of compounded sterile products.
Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, including medication error prevention and process optimization.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all pharmacy functions.
Financial & Strategic Management
Manage departmental budget, including revenue forecasting, expense control, and profitability analysis.
Identify opportunities for new service lines, cost savings, and process efficiency improvements.
Support business development by collaborating on payer relations, accreditation, and operational readiness for new programs.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in good standing in the state of California; eligible for licensure in additional states if needed.
Sterile Compounding knowledge (USP and ) preferred.
Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., BCOP, BCPS) preferred
Experience
Minimum 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience, preferably in infusion therapy, specialty pharmacy, or oncology.
Minimum 2 years of leadership or management experience in a pharmacy setting (e.g., infusion, hospital, or specialty pharmacy).
Sterile compounding operations and compliance programs, preferred.
Skills & Competencies

What You'll Bring to the Team:
