The successful candidate will have a pleasant, customer service-oriented demeanor, have excellent communication and organizational skills and be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes working some Saturday and Sunday shifts on occasion. The Pharmacist will dispense prescription medications to patients and offer expertise in the safe use of prescriptions. They also may provide advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle, conduct health and wellness screenings, provide immunizations, and oversee the medications given to patients. Responsibilities Fill prescriptions, verifying instructions from physicians on the proper amounts of medication to give to patients. Check whether the prescription will interact negatively with other drugs that a patient is taking or any medical conditions the patient has. Instruct patients on how and when to take a prescribed medicine and inform them about potential side effects they may experience from taking the medicine. Advise patients about general health topics, such as diet, exercise, and managing stress, and on other issues, such as what equipment or supplies would be best to treat a health problem. Give flu shots and other vaccinations. Listen carefully to customers to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and advice. Prepare medicine when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patient. Keep records of patient history and of all activities regarding heavy medication Keep abreast of advancements in medicine by attending conferences and seminars and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedures. Requirements Proven experience as a pharmacist Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands etc. Outstanding knowledge of MS Office and Pharmacy information systems (McKesson) Excellent organizing skills Excellent communication skills with a customer centric approach Integrity and compassion Degree in Pharmacy/Pharmacology Valid license to practice the profession in the State of NY Must be available to work a flexible schedule. As a Pharmacist, you will be receiving incoming prescriptions, reviewing them for accuracy, and filling them with the correct medicine and dose. You will also be talking with customers to help them understand their medications and possible side effects, advising them on medication storage, and maintaining a safe, clean work environment. The ideal Pharmacist candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and is familiar with pharmaceutical best practices. Responsibilities Read and review incoming prescriptions for accuracy, suitability to a patient, and potential interactions Provide information to patients on side effects, dosage, specific storage needs, and interactions with other medications Maintain excellent patient records and pharmacy files Conduct regular inventory and maintain proper standards for accepting new inventory and categorizing it appropriately Maintain a clean, safe work environment Qualifications Must hold a current state pharmacist license or degree Strong customer service skills Excellent attention to detail The ability to multitask and shift priorities, as needed A Pharm.D.
