General Purpose of Job: Responsible for the efficient and accurate preparation and dispensation of medications and other pharmaceuticals according to established operational and chemical procedures, and as prescribed by physicians. Compounded products are packaged, labeled and dispensed according to current laws and regulations. * Conducts orientation for new employees. * Handles consumer concerns, uses proper telephone etiquette, follows instructions, demonstrates initiative and dependability. * Exhibits self-confidence, resourcefulness, productive work habits and cooperation with others. * Performs clerical and housekeeping duties as needed. * Accurately measures substances. * Administer vaccines. * Able to process prescriptions for medications with risk evaluation and mitigation strategies (REMS) * Able to follow regulations on sales of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine products. Pharmacy Technician positions are available in the pediatric acute care setting. Looking to create a diverse team to help perform patient care activities. Locations include CW Main Pharmacy and CW Operating Room Pharmacy. Specific areas and shift times are available depending on current area needs. General Pharmacy Technician duties may include: * Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals * Prepare sterile products, injections and IV chemotherapy * Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units * Correctly distribute and account for controlled substances usage * Deliver medications to nursing units including surgical rooms * Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory and properly dispose expired medications * Prepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols * Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries * Assist the Pharmacist with auditing controlled substance utilization * Build various medication kits, providing support to many different professions * Assist with training of staff * Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications * Work in a highly collaborative environment including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Managers, Technician Supervisors, and other medical professionals Mission Statement Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development, and through leadership activities in Michigan, nationally and internationally. Surgery Clinical Pharmacist Generalists actively collaborate with the health care team in designing, implementing, and monitoring patient-specific pharmacotherapy on various surgery services. The pharmacist when covering a clinical role attends daily rounds to ensure and promote the safe, rational, efficacious, and cost-effective use of drug therapy. This will include activities such as review of medication orders, provide dosage adjustments per pharmacy policies for anticoagulation, pharmacokinetic antimicrobials, renally dosed medications, parenteral nutrition, and conduct daily profile reviews. The development of guidelines and policies, quality improvement processes, research, and assistance in the clinical training of staff, residents and students is also expected. This position offers the opportunity to serve as a preceptor for University of Michigan College of Pharmacy Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) and obtain adjunct faculty status within the College. Additionally, there are many opportunities to mentor and facilitate the growth and development of pharmacy residents through our strong post-graduate pharmacy education programs. This will be a full time (1.0 FTE) position with dayshifts and some evening shifts. The position will cover a variety of clinical surgery services including but not limited to urology, plastics, orthopedics, oral maxillofacial, otolaryngology, general surgery, and thoracic surgery. This position will also rotate in operational areas, such as the main central pharmacy, OR pharmacy, cleanroom, etc. Training will depend on departmental needs, as well as team member interest. The position is designed to provide weekend coverage on a rotating basis. Weekend expectations are reviewed on an annual basis and subject to change based on departmental needs.
