* Acts as liaison with pharmacy operations to maintain high level of service to customers following all service related issues through to resolution.
* Delivers prescriptions to patients nurses and or family members in a secured bag at the time of discharge. Delivers prescriptions to MedStar employees throughout the hospital's campus. Collects payment for prescriptions secures appropriate signatures for medication deliveries and complies with all HIPAA requirements.
* Retrieves hard copy prescriptions from the floors obtains patient consent and brings prescriptions back to the bedside technician for processing.
* Works collaboratively with bedside technician to ensure productive workflow and reconcile patient's prescriptions approved for delivery.
* Verifies patients by the three-point check (name date of birth and number of prescriptions they are receiving). Offers patient counseling with the pharmacist and communicates relevant information and notes attached on delivery bags to patients.
* Maintains ongoing relationship with physicians and other referral sources and contributes to creating an environment of teamwork and trust among all associates.
* Processes daily cash report; performs end of day closing procedures; completes deposits as assigned and prepares work area for the following shift.
* Performs other support functions for the pharmacy; delivering or picking up mail to the mail room; taking deposits to the cashier; restocking pharmacy supplies.
* Performs non-dispensing customer service functions in the pharmacy including: Greets customers immediately either in person or within three rings via telephone; performs intake of refill requests and new prescriptions; gathers patient demographics and insurance information; handles the pickup / checkout function by performing payment transactions.
