Prepares and/or checks IV admixtures, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) solutions, chemotherapy and miscellaneous sterile products as required, using proper aseptic technique with a laminar air flow hood or biohazard cabinetry. Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Organizes and prioritizes daily operational activities to meet the needs of the department. Utilizes supportive personnel including technicians, interns, aides and clerks to assist in medication dispensing functions. Maintains all required records, both legal and hospital; including controlled substances, manufacturing and packaging records. Be certain that the pharmacy is properly registered and operating in accordance with the present laws, rules and regulations. Issue verbal and written notices to employees and subordinates concerning the laws, rules and regulations (Federal, state and local) relative to proper pharmacy practice. Additionally, the pharmacist is responsible for all day-to-day functions associated with the operation, maintaining staffing, safety and maintenance of the pharmacy including dealing with the mandatory local, state, and federal regulations regarding the pharmacy.
