Job Details: Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00-5:30 pm EST/ No Evenings or Weekends / Closed Door Pharmacy The Position The pharmacist will be responsible for services, including but not limited to processing prescriptions for all patients in accordance with Florida Pharmacy laws. The pharmacist will assist in overseeing daily operation of the pharmacy in accordance with Florida Pharmacy laws. The pharmacist will oversee and supervise the technician's daily activities. The pharmacist will assist in all pharmacy services, including quality assurance and clinical monitoring activities. Major duties and responsibilities that are critical and necessary, and that must be done to achieve this position's overall objective. Oversee dispensing of prescriptions Receiving physician prescription orders and evaluation for appropriate dosage, potential drug interactions, route of administration Supervise Pharmacy Technicians Communicate with physician offices, patients, and call center staff Provide patient counseling, education and monitoring for Rx products and exercise good pharmacy practice Special Projects as business needs require Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Requirements Education required: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D degree Licensure required: Must be licensed pharmacist with the Florida Board of Pharmacy Years and experience required: 2-4 years Retail, Mail or Specialty Pharmacy experience Licensed in multiple states (preferred) Specific type of experience required: The Pharmacist demonstrates competency in verifying all new and refill prescriptions. The Pharmacist demonstrates ability to identify, assess and report adverse events The Pharmacist demonstrates competency in reviewing the patient profile to assess appropriateness of therapy. What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers. Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes. Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at Cass Regional Medical Center and we are currently recruiting for a PRN Pharmacist to work on an as needed basis covering primarily weekend shifts. Job Summary Working in a hospital system pharmacy outsourced to Cardinal Health, the Pharmacist II adjusts and dispenses medication to patients and drives the compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy. The Pharmacist verifies physician orders using the pharmacy information system, makes adjustments according to protocols for a given medication, and provides patient education. This job also supervises Pharmacy Technicians and manages compliance tasks related to accreditation, narcotics control, and inventory management. Responsibilities: * Interprets medical orders (verbal and written) and transcribes to computerized patient medication profiles accurately. Maintains accurate, complete patient medication profiles. * Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, including sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products accurately. * Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law. * Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. * Assists with pharmacokinetics consult service and drug dosing per organizational protocol. * Reviews/interprets culture and susceptibility data for antibiotic appropriateness and recommends changes, as needed. * Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner. * Sustains the formulary by minimizing nonformulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols, and promoting rational drug therapy selection. * Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff, as needed. * Documents all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely. * Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data; conducts quality monitors and inspections; and maintains logs, records, and other documentation as assigned. * Participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs to the pharmacy, medical, nursing, and other staffs.
