Your responsibilities will include: Patient Care: Providing comprehensive care for patients with various cancer-related disease states, including hematologic and solid tumors, bone marrow transplants (BMT), CAR-T, and TIL therapies. Order Review and Verification: Reviewing and verifying chemotherapy orders to ensure accuracy and safety. Patient Education: Delivering patient education to inform patients about their treatments and care plans. In collaboration with other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, the Clinical Staff Pharmacist serves as a clinical resource and provides evidence-based drug information and therapeutic recommendations to patients, caregivers, pharmacists, nurses, physicians, medical students, undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students, and other hospital personnel. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist coordinates and manages all aspects of a patient's specialty pharmaceutical care, including medication order review, approval, and verification, and oversight of specialty pharmacy dispensing workflows to ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery. Responsibilities include ensuring appropriate dose, route, frequency, duration of therapy, and adherence to current clinical guidelines, as well as comprehensive medication management for complex disease states, lab monitoring, medication reconciliation, and ongoing therapy optimization. The pharmacist performs detailed patient medication profile reviews to identify and resolve drug-drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, drug-allergy interactions, and appropriateness of therapy, while coordinating pharmaceutical care with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist provides clinical management of patients receiving specialty medications across a wide range of disease states, including but not limited to Oncology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Multiple Sclerosis, Cystic Fibrosis, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), Autoimmune Disorders, Crohn's Disease, in addition to maintaining ongoing competency in newly approved therapies and emerging specialty disease states. Duties also include submission, follow-up, and management of prior authorizations and appeals, ensuring timely payer responses and continuity of care, as well as specialty prescription clinical review, order verification, adherence monitoring, and clinical documentation in alignment with major national accreditation agency standards. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist also provides patient education, counseling, and patient assistance follow-ups to support access to therapy and long-term treatment success. The patient population served includes adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with complex specialty disorders and pharmaceutical needs. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist must demonstrate the ability to assess medication dosing and identify pharmaceutical needs relative to disease processes, age, and clinical condition. This position is also responsible for supervising Pharm.D. students, pharmacy technicians, and undergraduate and graduate learners, as well as contributing to educational programs for hospital staff, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy personnel. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist participates in appropriate hospital and departmental committees relevant to the specialty pharmacy practice area and supports the academic, clinical, and patient care missions of Keck Hospital of USC and the Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Required Credentials and Experience: Applicants must have a PharmD degree, and licensure or eligibility for licensure in California; completion of PGY1 residency, Board Certification (BPS), or equivalent practice experience preferred.
