Minimal in-office patient interaction; most direct patient care handled by the Director of Pharmacy.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Active Pharmacist license in Florida
• 1+ year of PIC/Pharmacy Manager experience
• Specialty pharmacy experience (preferably in home infusion pharmacy or infusion therapies)

The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Pharmacist at our UHealth Deerfield location. The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Also, an employee in this position transfers prescriptions, handles incoming physician calls, logs data into applicable databases, and performs drug utilization review.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
2. Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
3. Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages.
4. Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
5. Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability. 6. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
7. Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions.
8. Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
9. Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.
10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Pharm.D. degree from an accredited institution.

Job Responsibilities:
Orders and received medication from appropriate source and conducts inventory of controlled substances
Reports all variances as required by state and federal regulations
Prepares accurately medication doses for patients in levels and dosage amounts as prescribed
Keeps adequate control over requesting and dispensing of all drugs and pharmaceutical supplies
Reviews and interprets the prescription of inpatient and outpatient using computerized patient profiles to ensure the appropriateness of dosage and to determine the significance of potential drug-drug interactions
Contacts and confers with healthcare provides concerting the appropriate drug, dose, interval, drug allergy and drug-drug interaction
Fills automated dispensing machines and accurately prepares and dispenses appropriate amount of inpatient and outpatient medication.
Required qualifications:
Active License in the State of Florida as Registered Pharmacist
