Duties:
1. In the absence of the pharmacy manager, serves as on-duty supervisor of pharmacy department ensuring that all essential functions of the pharmacy operation are adequately maintained.
2. Provides supervision and guidance for all support staff working in the pharmacy department.
3. Offers feedback and comment on the performance of department support staff to Pharmacy Manager.
4. Implements staff schedules for the pharmacy location.
5. Serves as primary customer care advocate ensuring that customer service standards are maintained by all pharmacy personnel.
6. Support company safety standards. Communicate any needed equipment repairs or maintenance work needed.
7. Ensures completion/maintenance of records and reports as required by regulation or the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Operations Manager and /or corporate policy and procedures.
8. Supports training of all personnel at the pharmacy location; recommends interventions for training to Store Manager and/or Pharmacy Manager.
9. Works closely with Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Operations Manager to develop and implement operational enhancement and efficiency enhancement programs and practices for the pharmacy location.
10. Works closely with Store Manager, Pharmacy Manager and pharmacy personnel to identify, develop and execute marketing opportunities to enhance pharmacy sales.
11. Monitors adjudication of third party claims, conducting follow-up as necessary to ensure claims are paid in a timely fashion; identifies problems in third party systems and report same Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacy Operations Manager.
12. In coordination with Store Manager, Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Operations Manager, ensures that all company policies, procedures and practices are maintained and followed by all pharmacy personnel.
13. Monitors pharmacy inventory and provides oversight of inventory purchasing and return systems.
14. Ensures that pharmacy maintains compliance with all state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
15. Performs other duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Store Manager or Pharmacy Operations Manager.
16. Performance primary functions of retail pharmacist including; but not limited to:
a. Proper and accurate dispensing of prescription medication.
b. Operation of claim adjudication system.
c. Patient counseling and health advocacy.
d. Liaison services with patients; prescribers and other individual/organization having business with or requesting pharmacy services.
e. Make clinical decisions on each prescription that is presented. These decisions include but are not limited to, Drug-Drug interactions, Drug-Disease-State checks, Allergy profile, dosage, strength, quantity checks etc.
f. Accurately prepare and dispense medication in full compliance with the physicians order, and all applicable law.
g. Able to work for up to 12 hours without assistance. Long periods of time are spent standing on a concrete floor with a cushioned mat.
h. Able to reach and retrieve medication from floor level to overhead level.
i. Stocking of pharmacy require the employee to bend, stretch and reach. This will include the ability to lift weights of up to 25lbs.
j. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and patients.
k. Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, OTC products, durable medical equipment and other health care needs, including possible side effects and precautions.

16. Ensures that pharmacy maintains compliance with all state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
17. Performance primary functions of retail pharmacist including; but not limited to:
a. Proper and accurate dispensing of prescription medication.
b. Operation of claim adjudication system.
c. Patient counseling and health advocacy.
d. Liaison services with patients; prescribers and other individual/organization having business with or requesting pharmacy services.

f. Accurately prepare and dispense medication in full compliance with the physicians order, and all applicable law.
g. Able to work for up to 12 hours without assistance. Long periods of time are spent standing on a concrete floor with a cushioned mat.
h. Able to reach and retrieve medication from floor level to overhead level.
i. Stocking of pharmacy require the employee to bend, stretch and reach. This will include the ability to lift weights of up to 25lbs.
j. Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses and patients.
k. Counsel patients on the proper use of medications, OTC products, durable medical equipment and other health care needs, including possible side effects and precautions.

Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services within the personnel, supply, and equipment capabilities of the facility.
Ensure accuracy of all pharmaceutical products prepared or processed by technical staff.
Work closely with clinical staff in developing patient wellness programs such as smoking cessation programs and asthma classes.
Provide medication information to the clinical staff as required, including in-service training on new medications on the market; appropriate use of medications; comparison of current medication therapies; and other topics as deemed appropriate by the department head.
Provide clinical direction of corpsmen and pharmacy technicians and provide input into job performance evaluations.
Maintain inventory control of all pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy, especially scheduled pharmaceuticals, and ensure pharmacy security. Maintain appropriate records and security of all scheduled controlled substances according to applicable regulations.
Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with MTF protocols.
Participate in a multidisciplinary team with other health care providers providing consultative services pursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.
Work with physicians in a multidisciplinary team to provide drug therapy recommendations, perform polypharmacy management, and provide patient education regarding changes in drug therapy.
Conduct a deliberate medication review and reconciliation for chronic pain patients and develop strategies for patients with histories of non-compliance, abuse and or diversion.
Conduct a clinical interview with patient, family, and/or caregiver(s) to identify information necessary to design a pharmacotherapeutic treatment plan.
Order and evaluate appropriate laboratory tests to assess clinical response, development of adverse drug reactions, therapeutic drug levels, and complete all appropriate clinical reminders.
Document and communicate all information as appropriate; pain patient agreements, pharmacotherapeutic treatment findings and recommendations.
Educate patients and their families/caretaker(s) on medications and non-drug therapy and provide appropriate written drug information: counsel on self-monitoring techniques and lifestyle changes to promote wellness; emphasize medication adherence and provide compliance aids, such as medication charts and pill boxes.
Extend existing prescriptions (psychotropic and non-psychotropic medications) as appropriate and ensure the patient receives follow-up appointment(s) with the appropriate individual(s).
Order consults and referrals as appropriate.
Participate in an on-site designated Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) tele-mentoring training program.
Participate in tele-mentoring, tele-medicine, and tele-consults.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).
Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency or fellowship accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists or American College of Clinical Pharmacy or documentation of appropriate education, training, and/or CME in the practice of clinical pharmacy.
Possess a graduate certificate from an accredited pharmacy residency program OR Possess a minimum of twelve (12) months of experience within the preceding eighteen (18) months as a Clinical Pharmacist performing direct patient care clinical activities in an ambulatory care pharmacy setting OR Have held clinical privileges as a Clinical Pharmacist within the preceding thirty-six (36) months in a military treatment facility.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a pharmacist.
Must be a US Citizen.
