California Correctional Health Care Services' (CCHCS) Pharmacy Services delivers pharmaceutical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings through medication preparation, provision of efficient clinical services, and accurate drug information and education. Pharmaceutical care is provided via a combination of institution pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with support from a Central Fill Pharmacy working in concert to service more than 30 California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) adult correctional facilities throughout the state.

Provide executive leadership and overall administration of statewide pharmacy services
Oversee the development and implementation of professional practices, resource management, program management, and delivery systems

California Pharmacy License
Min. 5 yrs. progressively responsible experience in health care administration within a comprehensive medical setting

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Prepares, fills and compounds drugs and IV orders by physicians and other authorized prescribers
+ Maintains narcotic inventory and records usage of all controlled substances and pharmaceuticals within the pharmacy
+ Properly stores biological, vaccines and serums
+ May provide specialized pharmaceutical services including, but not limited to, advising physicians on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs and their side effects, as well as assisting in the prescription of appropriate doses
+ Depending upon the assignment, may prepare IV chemotherapy solutions
+ May supervise or coordinate the activities of pharmacy technicians who are engaged in the preparation, labeling and delivery of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies
+ Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and controlled drugs and the maintenance of required records
+ When necessary, conducts and evaluates patient medication histories, assesses compliance and suggests modifications to medication orders to achieve desired outcomes
+ Instructs patients in the proper use of prescribed drugs; answers patient questions as needed
+ Individualizes medication regimens using sound principles, accounting for pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination
+ Maintains pharmaceutical knowledge by attending educational in-services
+ Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required

About the Job:
Title of the Position: Compounding Pharmacist (Full Time)
The Compounding Pharmacist at Nivagen will be responsible for leading the 503B outsourcing facility, ensuring adherence to compounding standards and regulatory compliance. This role is pivotal in meeting manufacturing and company goals by overseeing the successful operations of a fully compliant department. Key responsibilities include maintaining facility and equipment standards, ensuring safety, upholding product quality, optimizing manufacturing efficiency, and managing quality systems in line with regulatory requirements. The Compounding Pharmacist will report directly to the CEO and/or the Production Manager.
Responsibilities:
Work with Production Lead to achieve daily compounding output goals
Design weekly production schedule with Production Lead
Assign technician roles for the week (i.e. Mixer, Filler, Assistant, etc.)
Direct techs to a particular task to maintain production flow
Complete Batch records
Supervise compounding activities
Perform Mixer, Filler, Assistant, or any technician duties as needed
Check customer orders for accuracy
Clinical customer service (Drug info, IV compatibility, osmolarity calculations etc.)
Controlled substance records management
QA reports/investigations as assigned: MOCA, CAPA, MRDD, Complaints
Maintain team's cGMP compliance at MSRX
Participate in regulatory audits

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution
A minimum of two to three years of experience in a compounding pharmacy or a 503B outsourcing facility, or equivalent experience in related fields, is required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding and experience in USP 797 guidelines and manual aseptic manipulations
