The Pharmacist will be responsible to perform the duties of a licensed pharmacist. Ensures the safety and security of merchandise. Ensures adherence to laws and regulations governing the sale of pharmaceuticals, and maintains compliance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations as well as local, state, and federal requirements as it pertains to prescriptions.

Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interaction, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
Engages in consultation with prescriber regarding interpretation of prescription information as needed.
Ensures that stock and supplies necessary for customer care are ordered, stored, and handled in an organized and efficient manner in the absence of the Lead Pharmacist and/or manager.
Prepares, fills, and compounds drug and orders by prescribers and other authorized personnel.
Offers free counseling to customers on how to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
Strives to improve efficiency and reduce costs in the pharmacy area.
Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, and ensures quality, security, and proper disposal.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires BA/BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm D and minimum of 1 year experience working as a Pharmacist in a retail setting; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Valid Registered Pharmacist license required.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Pharmacist in a retail setting preferred.
Experience with Infusion pharmacy and/or Immune Globulin medications preferred.
Experience with pharmacy adjudication platform strongly preferred.
Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities:
Access various physician practices for potential specialty Rx value using tools/data available.
Establish communication with targeted specialty practices, arranging meetings with key stakeholders/decision makers.
Demonstrate value of ambulatory pharmacy partnership to specialty practices.
Ensure prescriptions flow through to ambulatory pharmacy and are identified by pharmacy staff.

The Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) / Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of the pharmacy department within a high-acuity infusion, specialty and oncology pharmacy. This role ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations, oversees clinical and operational functions related to sterile compounding, and maintains the highest standards of patient safety and quality in the preparation and dispensing of IV infusions, IVIG, specialty medications, and chemotherapy agents.
The Director of Pharmacy serves as the clinical and operational leader for all pharmacy staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure optimal patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Provide strategic leadership for the pharmacy department, establishing goals, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational objectives.
Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management of pharmacy personnel.
Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with executive leadership, nursing, and clinical teams to ensure coordinated patient care and service excellence.
Regulatory & Compliance
Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge, maintaining all required licenses, permits, and accreditations (e.g., USP , , ACHC, URAC, or Joint Commission).
Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including Board of Pharmacy and FDA requirements.
Oversee documentation, record-keeping, and quality assurance processes.
Lead audits, inspections, and accreditation reviews.
Clinical Oversight
Provide clinical oversight for sterile compounding, including IV infusions, IVIG, specialty injectables, and chemotherapy preparations.
Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, safety, and appropriateness.
Ensure adherence to USP / and aseptic technique standards.
Collaborate with prescribers and nurses to optimize therapeutic outcomes and manage adverse drug reactions.
Operations & Quality
Oversee inventory management, procurement, and cost control of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
Ensure timely, accurate, and safe dispensing of compounded sterile products.
Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, including medication error prevention and process optimization.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all pharmacy functions.
Financial & Strategic Management
Manage departmental budget, including revenue forecasting, expense control, and profitability analysis.
Identify opportunities for new service lines, cost savings, and process efficiency improvements.
Support business development by collaborating on payer relations, accreditation, and operational readiness for new programs.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of California; eligible for licensure in additional states if needed.
Sterile Compounding knowledge (USP and ) preferred.
Board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., BCOP, BCPS) preferred
Experience
Minimum 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience, preferably in infusion therapy, specialty pharmacy, or oncology.
Minimum 2 years of leadership or management experience in a pharmacy setting (e.g., infusion, hospital, or specialty pharmacy).
Sterile compounding operations and compliance programs, preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of infusion therapies, IVIG, chemotherapy, and specialty pharmaceuticals.
In-depth understanding of state and federal regulations governing pharmacy operations.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage complex operations.

The Clinical Formulary Pharmacist will play an important role in providing operational support for evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of Medicare Part D Formulary and Utilization Management, review of new drugs with the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Subcommittee/Committee. This position is accountable for ensuring regulatory compliance with respect to the Medicare Part D formulary submissions to CMS, pharmacy benefits, formulary and transition program implementation with PBM, website content for all business lines, pharmacy ne work and CMS's Part D regulatory audits. The Clinical Formulary Pharmacist stays abreast of pharmacy, PBM, payer industry changes, pipeline, drug trends, best practices, and CMS's rules and regulations, including Inflation Reduction Act. The role requires strong cross functional collaboration and communication skills, and an understanding of Medicate Part D formulary and Utilization Management (UM) processes.
You Will
Ensures regulatory compliance with P&T operations, Formulary & Benefit Administration, Transition Programs, annual Part D bid submission process, pharmacy-related member and other stakeholders' communications and marketing materials, including member formulary drug list, website content, trainings, pharmacy network and CMS's regulatory audits.
Produces, maintains, and implements Part D Formulary, Prior Authorization criteria, Step Therapy criteria, Supplemental files, and clinical rules in accordance with CMS requirements on monthly and annual basis and submits these files to CMS.
Develops and maintains formulary exception criteria.
Evaluates and reviews new drugs/biosimilar with the Pharmacy & Therapeutics
Subcommittee/Committee within 90-180 days of being marketed and makes Formulary and UM recommendations based on the clinical appropriateness, cost analysis and CMS guidelines.
Works in collaboration with Medical Directors to evaluate and analyze treatment protocols and procedures related to the SCAN Health Plan formulary, at least annually.

Assists with Formulary and UM modeling for the annual Formulary and BID submissions to CMS. Reviews accuracy of the Formulary, UM files, and Pharmacy Benefits for the annual BID submission to CMS.
Prepares Formulary/Pharmacy Benefits Industry Analysis annually. Complies and implements Inflation Reduction Act requirements with PBM and CMS Innovation Programs, as needed.
Monitors drug pipeline, drug trends, and payer industry changes throughout the year to identify potentially high Part D impact drugs. Manages Part B drug trend and value-based opportunities.
Oversees PBM operations in the areas of Formulary, Opioid Safety Edits, Pharmacy Benefits, Transition Programs, Prescriber Enrollment Requirements and Pharmacy Network Implementation.
Ensures AEP and 1/1 readiness and assists in training of other departments. Serves as the clinical subject matter expert for respective areas, providing guidance as needed.
Maintains current knowledge of Medicare Part D regulations by participating in CMS calls and reading released guidance and implementing changes to maintain compliance.
Manages multiple deadlines and completes projects with 100% accuracy.
