Job Description Summary: Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The pharmacy technician is expected to have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment. Pharmacy technicians have a flexible work schedule; working in different areas of the pharmacy daily to support the activities of the pharmacists. They must be dependable, possess a strong work ethic and have reliable attendance. All tasks and duties must be completed in accordance and compliance with HIPAA guidelines, State and Federal laws, and current company policies and procedures Essential Data Entry Responsibilities: • Accurately process claims for New/ refill prescriptions including resolving rejected claims, Review all pertinent medical documentation from physicians, and other healthcare facilities. • Assist pharmacist in with the retrieval of prescription files, patient files and profiles and other such records pertaining to the practice of pharmacy including data entry and label preparation • Initiate communication to a prescribing practitioner or their medical staff (or agent) regarding prescription refill authorization requests. • Initiate communication to confirm the patient name, medication, strength, quantity, directions and date of last refill. • Initiate communication to a prescribing practitioner or their medical staff (or agents) to obtain clarification on missing or illegible dates, prescriber name, brand/generic preference, quantity, DEA registration number or license number. • Accept authorization for a prescription renewal. • Maintains adherence to company policies and procedures, department requirements, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. • Ensure that patient medical records are loaded into CPR+ assuring the correct patient information is attached to the correct patient. Handle all incoming faxes and forward them to the appropriate departments. Set -up doctor demographic profile, DEA research, Diagnosis codes, and sales rep and verify doctor license. • Other duties as requested by management. Essential Fulfillment Responsibilities: • Counting, measuring, pouring and filling of prescription medications or stock legend drugs and controlled substances. • Accurately select, fill and label the right medications for the right patients for the right date. • Inventory and ancillary supply restocking and checking of expiration dates • Monitor & record refrigerator temperatures to ensure appropriate drug storage. • Conduct monthly inventory • Perform environmental cleaning and documentation. • Performs the restock inventory supplies I medication. • Ensures that Order Check* Read the progress notes. Look for a note confirming the delivery (including ship/fill & promise dates). Also verify that the claim has been paid and that the patient has paid the co-payment. If no notes detailing delivery confirmation exist notify PCC and request that they confirm delivery and update the progress notes. • Maintains adherence to company policies and procedures, department requirements, safety standards and good housekeeping practices. • Other duties as requested by management.
