Key job responsibilities
-Drive from physical Pharmacy locations to our remote Pharmacy Kiosk locations with company provided vehicle
-Refill Pharmacy Kiosks with medication, paper, clean machine, and collect discarded inventory for return
-Prepare inventory shipments for Kiosk replenishment
-Assist pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the state board of pharmacy
-Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
-Work daily with Leadership to ensure the right medications are put in the right orders
-Run automated machinery required to pre-sort and package medications
-Fill exception trays with appropriate medication
-Transition Amazon Pharmacy orders through different workflow stages from initial dispense through quality control
-Count and fill prescription vials and affix labels on bulk prescription items
-Pack and ship completed orders including printing and affixing appropriate labels on dispenser, shipping boxes
-Sort and triage the right boxes to ship at the right time
-Aid the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacists with receiving, shipping, counting, and packing
-Clean, and help maintain, equipment and work areas within the pharmacy.
-Package medications for dispensing and for delivery
-Work a flexible schedule - shifts will possibly start and end outside of normal site business hours
Physical Requirements:
-During shifts last up to 12 hours (standard full-time shifts are 10 hours excluding overtime, flex and part-time shifts may vary):

Preparation for Distribution (Unit Dose, Pyxis, IV compounding).
Fill Lists: Contributes to efficient pharmacy operations by printing, accurately filling, and verifying completion of all fill lists associated with Pyxis MedStation operations, unit dose patient cassettes, IV medications, and floor stock. Generates all required Fill Lists (ie. Pyxis, Cassettes, IV meds, Preparation (Filling) etc.) and consistently prioritizes and accomplishes fill list related workload to meet service level expectations.
Inventory: Inventory Par levels are maintained within established levels. Inventory is filled accurately with correct medications/supplies consistent with current approved floor stock sheet.
Prepackaging: Prepares and performs prepackaging of medications, labels and documents the pre-packing / re-packaging of unit dose, bulk and compounded medications according to policy, procedure and regulatory standards.
IV Preparation: Demonstrates knowledge and competency of IV Admixture / Aseptic Technique including the standards of USP 79 Demonstrates knowledge and competency of chemotherapy/hazardous med preparation.
Unit Dose Fill: Unit Dose cassettes are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Sustains a high level of accuracy by consistently selecting the correct medication, dosage, and strength. Obtains pharmacist check prior to dispensing 100% of the time. Prepackaging of medications is completed before the exchange.
Pyxis Fill: Accurately and within designated time frames completes pyxis fill. Maintains pyxis MedStations in a clean and orderly condition.
Distribution / Delivery.
Performs medication exchanges; ensures meds are accurately placed in correct and secure location, and that discontinued meds are pulled and returned.
Appropriately reconciles the cassettes; making sure the current active orders for products are in the right cassette. Transfer all bulks items appropriately to the new cassette, removing outdated, dc'd, or other patients medications from the cassette.
Where applicable, contributes toward optimizing use of pyxis with respect to new loads where the goal is to have very few medications in the cassette/baggie exchange.
Assuring Emergency Drug Supply (ie. crash cart trays, rapid response team med boxes) filling, refilling, documentation and processing performed.
Reconciliation.
Transfers; meds are delivered to the right location, taking into account patient transfers.
Perform Billing Adjustments. Accurately documents doses dispensed/credited on fill lists.
Pick up excess stock and discontinued/discharged patient medications and returns to pharmacy or appropriate waste stream.
Meds returned to stock that are eligible for credit are credited appropriately.
Assists with narcotic inventories as applicable.
Pharmacy operations "just in time"
Meets Service Level Expectations.
Tasks are accomplished within service level expectations with accuracy.
Assuring that incoming phone calls are answered promptly, states name, position, and department, and triages phone calls appropriately.

Resolves and/or troubleshoots issues in a timely manner (ie. missing meds, stock issues, discrepancies).
Assures rapid response and resolution of pyxis "out-of-stock".
Record Keeping, assures all documentation and records are complete and maintained appropriately to ensure integrity (ie. compounding, prepacking, controlled substances audit trails, pyxis, etc.
Effectively troubleshoots and resolves pyxis related issues (ie. drawer recovery, drawer jams, cubie replacement) when possible.
Appropriately refers issues to pyxis specialist and/or pyxis tech support.
Consistently and willingly assists with other duties as requested or assigned.
Quality control
Adhering to all legal and pharmacy procedures.
Completes monthly assigned nursing unit / drug storage area inspections on time. Completes paperwork including inspection log, documents discrepancies, and makes recommendations for improvement. Brings critical issues to the attention of management.

Ensures security of medication storage and compliance with Medication Management (MM) standards (i.e. all meds are labeled, patient own meds are retrieved and checked by pharmacist, no expired meds, physical security of medications is maintained, etc).
Safe medication practice
Participates in surveillance initiatives and identifies critical issues (ie. pyxis override report monitoring, trigger reports, audits, etc).
Proactively identifies potential medication safety improvement opportunities such as look-alike/sound-alike (LASA) with medication storage and packaging issues, delivery storage/security related issues, inventory management issues etc.
Contributes to processes that reduce likelihood of occurrence or reoccurrence of medication safety event(s) (MSE's).
Communicates and reports events via eQVR submissions (or hotline) and/or to appropriate pharmacist staff.

Preparation for Distribution (Unit Dose, Pyxis, IV compounding).
Fill Lists: Contributes to efficient pharmacy operations by printing, accurately filling, and verifying completion of all fill lists associated with Pyxis MedStation operations, unit dose patient cassettes, IV medications, and floor stock. Generates all required Fill Lists (ie. Pyxis, Cassettes, IV meds, Preparation (Filling) etc.) and consistently prioritizes and accomplishes fill list related workload to meet service level expectations.
Inventory: Inventory Par levels are maintained within established levels. Inventory is filled accurately with correct medications/supplies consistent with current approved floor stock sheet.
Prepackaging: Prepares and performs prepackaging of medications, labels and documents the pre-packing / re-packaging of unit dose, bulk and compounded medications according to policy, procedure and regulatory standards.
IV Preparation: Demonstrates knowledge and competency of IV Admixture / Aseptic Technique including the standards of USP 79 Demonstrates knowledge and competency of chemotherapy/hazardous med preparation.
Unit Dose Fill: Unit Dose cassettes are maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Sustains a high level of accuracy by consistently selecting the correct medication, dosage, and strength. Obtains pharmacist check prior to dispensing 100% of the time. Prepackaging of medications is completed before the exchange.
Pyxis Fill: Accurately and within designated time frames completes pyxis fill. Maintains pyxis MedStations in a clean and orderly condition.
Distribution / Delivery.
Performs medication exchanges; ensures meds are accurately placed in correct and secure location, and that discontinued meds are pulled and returned.
Appropriately reconciles the cassettes; making sure the current active orders for products are in the right cassette. Transfer all bulks items appropriately to the new cassette, removing outdated, dc'd, or other patients medications from the cassette.
Where applicable, contributes toward optimizing use of pyxis with respect to new loads where the goal is to have very few medications in the cassette/baggie exchange.
Assuring Emergency Drug Supply (ie. crash cart trays, rapid response team med boxes) filling, refilling, documentation and processing performed.
Reconciliation.
Transfers; meds are delivered to the right location, taking into account patient transfers.
Perform Billing Adjustments. Accurately documents doses dispensed/credited on fill lists.
Pick up excess stock and discontinued/discharged patient medications and returns to pharmacy or appropriate waste stream.
Meds returned to stock that are eligible for credit are credited appropriately.
Assists with narcotic inventories as applicable.

Assuring that incoming phone calls are answered promptly, states name, position, and department, and triages phone calls appropriately.

Orders, data, and electronic information (i.e. allergies, vaccine status) is captured and recoded are entered into computerized patient medication profile and other databases for verification by the pharmacist (where applicable).
Delivery and Distribution (Optimal Process Flow).
Assuring pharmacist check of all work (packaging, labeling) prior to dispensing.
Assuring delivery of medications into appropriate receiving location (ie. medication bins, refrigerator, med room, etc).
Resolves and/or troubleshoots issues in a timely manner (ie. missing meds, stock issues, discrepancies).
Assures rapid response and resolution of pyxis "out-of-stock".
Record Keeping, assures all documentation and records are complete and maintained appropriately to ensure integrity (ie. compounding, prepacking, controlled substances audit trails, pyxis, etc.
Effectively troubleshoots and resolves pyxis related issues (ie. drawer recovery, drawer jams, cubie replacement) when possible.
Appropriately refers issues to pyxis specialist and/or pyxis tech support.
Consistently and willingly assists with other duties as requested or assigned.

Adhering to all legal and pharmacy procedures.
Completes monthly assigned nursing unit / drug storage area inspections on time. Completes paperwork including inspection log, documents discrepancies, and makes recommendations for improvement. Brings critical issues to the attention of management.
Participates and assists in the collection audits (ie. pyxis, controlled substance, etc).
Ensures security of medication storage and compliance with Medication Management (MM) standards (i.e. all meds are labeled, patient own meds are retrieved and checked by pharmacist, no expired meds, physical security of medications is maintained, etc).
* Safe medication practice
Participates in surveillance initiatives and identifies critical issues (ie. pyxis override report monitoring, trigger reports, audits, etc).
Proactively identifies potential medication safety improvement opportunities such as look-alike/sound-alike (LASA) with medication storage and packaging issues, delivery storage/security related issues, inventory management issues etc.
Contributes to processes that reduce likelihood of occurrence or reoccurrence of medication safety event(s) (MSE's).

Enter information on all drugs and manufacturers into the computer, and maintain all computer files. Registers eligible patients via med data system and complete application.
* Follows up to ensure that medications are received for applications sent. Maintains log of all med data medication that is received.
* Generates prescription labels and receipts, including the entering of all necessary information into the computer.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Performs routine maintenance and refilling of medication to the pharmacy robot cell.
* Process drug shipments, including unpacking, affixing price stickers, stocking of shelves and refrigerator, and paper work on invoices.
* Responsible for general housekeeping of pharmacy area according to established maintenance schedule.
* Schedules appointments for patients deemed eligible for med data services and patients in need of refills. Informs patient when medication is ready for pick up. Responsible for receiving payments from patients and reporting the total sale at the end of the day.
Requirements:
* California Pharmacy Technician License.
* Formal training as a Pharmacy Technician.
* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
* Basic computer literacy (i.e., use a system to manage and schedule appointments, and access electronic medical record information).
* Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
