Job Scope: This is responsible and varied technical work assisting SMA Healthcare's Pharmacist in the performance of professional services. Work also involves performing clerical and customer service work to include greeting clients, answering the telephone, answering questions for clients, and receiving payments from clients.
Essential Job Functions:
* Enters prescription information or physician orders and new patient data into the computer system.
* Files prescriptions electronically in QS1 computer system
* Selects and prepares for dispensing the proper medication.
* With Pharmacist approval, prepares and applies label to medication package, packages prescription, prepares label and correctly handles transaction.
* Takes prescription renewal orders only over the phone (may not take orders for new prescriptions -- this must be done only by Pharmacist.)
* Greets clients and answers questions within context of established policies and procedures; receives payments from clients and "rings" sales on cash register; counts drawer and prepares cash transactions record to go to Accounting as required.
* Answers telephone, accepts renewal orders, checks computer for number of prescription refills left, and answers clerical questions for clients, case managers, therapists, etc.
* Verifies client insurance information via Emdeon or other web based software.
* Verifies client status in electronic medical record (AVATAR).
* Prepares daily medication purchase order to send to wholesaler.
* Process returns to Wholesaler
* Checks in/verifies merchandise orders and prepares invoices to go to Accounting.
* Processes and files end-of-the-day computer reports as required by D.P.R. and DOH.
* May travel to satellite facilities to deliver medications.
* Counts and prepares for disposal and return to reverse distributor all discontinued and outdated medications from SMA Pharmacy. (NOTE: Pharmacist must supervise this procedure).
* Sorts and files correspondence and discards out of date information.

Complete State of Florida mandatory level 2 background screening prior to start of employment if direct contact with children/adolescents, vulnerable adults, or the developmentally disabled may be involved. Complete Mandt training, CPR, First Aid and HIV/AIDS training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.
Physical: Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12 hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.

Job Summary
The Registered Pharmacy Technician functions under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager and is responsible for the accurate preparation of prescriptions for verification by the Pharmacist on duty and maintaining the workflow of the pharmacy including cashiering and the accurate release of prescriptions at will call. They must also perform all other activities as allowed and regulated by the Florida Board of Pharmacy. This is NOT a remote position.

Submit accurate and necessary supply and medication orders under the direction of the Pharmacist
Follow all medication guidelines as well as policies and procedures for receiving, filling, dispensing, logging, maintaining loss prevention procedures, and avoiding diversion for all inventory including controlled medications
Ensure that pharmacy policies as well as federal and state laws and regulations in all prescription related issues, including HIPAA, 340b, SOP, QA, and CQI, are followed
Understand and maintain compliance with the 340b drug program
Verify that presented prescriptions are current and valid for dispensing
Complete a 340b eligibility check for every prescription fill to determine if the prescription meets eligibility criteria
Demonstrate the ability to navigate the electronic health record (EHR) of patients to find relevant information necessary for prescription processing
Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy, appropriateness, and determine formulas and ingredients needed
Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients under the supervision of the pharmacist
Ensure that all control drug policies and procedures as required by state, federal, and organizational guidelines are followed
Performs troubleshooting functions for third-party discrepancies and other prescription filling issues
Answer the telephone and assist patients at the front counter as well as through curbside pickup (when applicable) to maintain the workflow of the pharmacy
Utilize the phone language translation service to communicate with patients that speak another language
Responsible for maintaining a current and valid license as required by state, federal, and pharmacy guidelines
Maintain contact with providers, clinical support staff, and administrative staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy
Stay current with new and changing drug therapies and uses
Responsible for the proper maintenance of pharmacy drug inventories including accurate counts and clean shelving
Responsible for the proper storage of all pharmacy inventory
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department at all times
Actively engage patients and provide exemplary customer service as well as provide education about pharmacy services and programs offered in an effort to grow the pharmacy business and volume of prescriptions dispensed
Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs
Efficiently enters accurate data such as, but not limited to, patient demographics, prescription information, drug cost, prescription pricing, insurance information, and inventory
Maintains awareness of third-party Rx billing systems and resolves third-party rejection problems promptly, and resubmits rejected claims for payment on a timely basis
Resolves and reports prescription issues and errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adheres to regulations and company policy regarding continuous quality improvement
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with physicians and other health care professionals in order to better assist patients
Delivers accurate reports and assignments on time
Completes all assigned projects and tasks accurately and on time
Must have reliable daily transportation and be able to travel to and staff the pharmacy at other health center locations when necessary as instructed

Essential Data Entry Responsibilities:
Accurately process claims for New/ refill prescriptions including resolving rejected claims, Review all pertinent medical documentation from physicians, and other healthcare facilities.
Assist pharmacist in with the retrieval of prescription files, patient files and profiles and other such records pertaining to the practice of pharmacy including data entry and label preparation
Initiate communication to a prescribing practitioner or their medical staff (or agent) regarding prescription refill authorization requests.
Initiate communication to confirm the patient name, medication, strength, quantity, directions and date of last refill.
Initiate communication to a prescribing practitioner or their medical staff (or agents) to obtain clarification on missing or illegible dates, prescriber name, brand/generic preference, quantity, DEA registration number or license number.
Accept authorization for a prescription renewal.
Maintains adherence to company policies and procedures, department requirements, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
Ensure that patient medical records are loaded into CPR+ assuring the correct patient information is attached to the correct patient. Handle all incoming faxes and forward them to the appropriate departments. Set -up doctor demographic profile, DEA research, Diagnosis codes, and sales rep and verify doctor license.

Job Summary

Understand and maintain compliance with the 340b drug program
Verify that presented prescriptions are current and valid for dispensing
Complete a 340b eligibility check for every prescription fill to determine if the prescription meets eligibility criteria
Demonstrate the ability to navigate the electronic health record (EHR) of patients to find relevant information necessary for prescription processing
Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy, appropriateness, and determine formulas and ingredients needed
Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients under the supervision of the pharmacist
Ensure that all control drug policies and procedures as required by state, federal, and organizational guidelines are followed
Performs troubleshooting functions for third-party discrepancies and other prescription filling issues
Answer the telephone and assist patients at the front counter as well as through curbside pickup (when applicable) to maintain the workflow of the pharmacy
Utilize the phone language translation service to communicate with patients that speak another language
Responsible for maintaining a current and valid license as required by state, federal, and pharmacy guidelines
Maintain contact with providers, clinical support staff, and administrative staff to determine needs, resolve problems, improve processes, and promote effective drug therapy
Stay current with new and changing drug therapies and uses

The Position
Schedule Details: Monday-Friday; no evenings/weekend; Hours 8:30am to 5:30pm EST schedule with great PTO and holidays.
Pharmacy Details: Closed door mail order specialty pharmacy
Location: 495 Keller Rd, Orlando, FL 32751
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises daily technician tasks and performance levels applying operating discipline across both front end and fulfillment.
Monitors pharmacy workflow queues and phone service levels
Creates pharmacy technician schedule and schedule adherence.
Provides weekly huddles to cover communications/process opportunities and changes.
Completes monthly 1 on 1's to evaluate workload, performance, and correction.
Completes daily timecard review, quarterly performance review and annual performance review of strengths and opportunities for improvement.
Maintains team morale and employee retention by serving as point of contact for questions and concerns.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certificates, licenses, and registrations required:
Florida Pharmacy Technician License - required
National Pharmacy Technician Certification - preferred
Computer skills preferred: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Teams)
Experience:
2-4 years' experience as a pharmacy technician supervisor required.
5+ years' experience as pharmacy technician supervisor preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal, preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must continually lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: Conveyor belt, heat sealer, manual pallet jack.
