Primary Purpose
Responsible for performing nuclear medicine processes according to patient needs, Parkland procedures and other regulatory agency standards.
Minimum Specifications
Education • Must be a graduate of an accredited college program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Science,
or other allied health care field.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
• Must have an active permanent or temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification
from Texas Medical Board.
• Must have current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in
Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT within 6 months of hire.
• Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card or obtain certification
during initial orientation at Parkland from one of the following:
• American Heart Association

Skills or Special Abilities
• Must have a thorough working knowledge of the field of nuclear medicine technology, and those
aspects of chemistry, physics, mathematics and biomedical sciences that relate to nuclear
medicine technology and its growth.
• Must have basic knowledge of EKG to perform cardiac studies.
• Must be able to administer intramuscular and intravenous injections and start intravenous lines.
• Must be able to operate Gamma cameras, including SPECT/CT and PET/CT scanners, nuclear
medicine computers, and Cardiac Stress equipment.
• Must have basic knowledge of nuclear medicine therapeutic treatments.
Responsibilities
1. Performs quality control measures on nuclear medicine equipment and devices including
troubleshooting and maintenance ensuring quality management programs for all procedures.
2. Confers with Physicians to determine appropriate procedures, in order to ensure effective
operations.
3. Documents all operations of the laboratory including the receipt and disposition of radioactive
materials, instrument and procedural quality control data, patient procedures, and medical
records. Exercises judgement in the performance of scheduled examinations and procedures to
ensure compliance with established guidelines.
4. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer (internal as well as external)
satisfaction. Makes recommendations to management, implements and monitors results as
appropriate in the support of the overall goals and mission of the Parkland.
5. Provides clinical instructions for Radiology students and residents to ensure that all health care
providers are well informed of all radiologic information.
6. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements and trends in the nuclear medicine field
by attending seminars or workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in
professional organizations such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists,
maintaining licensure in Nuclear Medicine from the Texas Department of Health, and integrates
this knowledge as appropriate into the job. Takes initiative to share knowledge with staff
members.
7. Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, physicians, nurses, residents, and
patients to ensure interdepartmental cooperation and an efficient flow of information.
8. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact
Nuclear Medicine. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicable
state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, and
private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.

1. Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules. Must-read computer-generated screens to find indicated merchandise on labeled shelves, verify size and strength. Perform basic mathematical reasoning to either count or calculate appropriate number of units needed to fill prescriptions.
2. Replenish medication in automated dispensing cells to full capacity, opening large quantities of bottles and cases of product. Use of handheld scanner unit to scan barcodes of product, entering expiration and lot information into computer application. Maintains high level of focus to avoid cross contamination and performs quality assurance check for expired and/or damaged product.
3. Completes weekly cycle counts as assigned by Inventory Mgr. Requires audits of cell inventory, counting product at primary and secondary bin locations. Assists with research and identification of root cause of discrepancies as needed.
4. Prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions following special requirements for handling and packing.
5. Assists with packing and shipping of prescriptions. Understands and abides by federal and state HIPAA laws as well as pharmacy standard procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
6. Demonstrate problem resolution skills: ability to recognize, address and escalate issues to management.
7. Perform cleaning and maintenance on all cells as needed. Includes dissembling of automated cells, replacing broken or missing parts, and performing calibration audits.

Primary Purpose
Responsible for performing nuclear medicine processes according to patient needs, Parkland procedures and other regulatory agency standards.
Minimum Specifications
Education • Must be a graduate of an accredited college program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Science,
or other allied health care field.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
• Must have an active permanent or temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification
from Texas Medical Board.
• Must have current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in
Nuclear Medicine (N) or CNMT within 6 months of hire.
• Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card or obtain certification
during initial orientation at Parkland from one of the following:
• American Heart Association
• American Red Cross Rescuer
• Military Training Network
Skills or Special Abilities
• Must have a thorough working knowledge of the field of nuclear medicine technology, and those
aspects of chemistry, physics, mathematics and biomedical sciences that relate to nuclear

Responsibilities
1. Performs quality control measures on nuclear medicine equipment and devices including
troubleshooting and maintenance ensuring quality management programs for all procedures.

3. Documents all operations of the laboratory including the receipt and disposition of radioactive
materials, instrument and procedural quality control data, patient procedures, and medical

satisfaction. Makes recommendations to management, implements and monitors results as

**_Job Summary_**
The primary purpose of the Tech II, Nuclear Pharmacy is to assist the pharmacist in pharmacy operations and customer interactions, including answering questions and relaying information to physicians and pharmacists.
