Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician assists with the fulfillment of patient orders to ensure patients receive their
medications on time. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Operations, Central Fill and
Team Lead, the Pharmacy Technician assists by providing support, medication dispensing, inventory
management, patient safety, and facilitating patient medication orders to support compliance with
treatment plans.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Pharmacy technician license or pharmacy technician trainee license from the Texas State
Board. Pharmacy technicians must obtain a valid license within one year of their hire date or prior to
the expiration of any existing license, whichever occurs first.
Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to read and transcribe pharmaceutical information.
Stand for long periods of time.
Bend, reach, climb, squat, lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 lbs
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand confidentiality with respect to patient/ client care; complying with all federal and
state laws applicable to the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and
electronic protected health information (EPHI); and follow HIPAA guidelines regarding readily
identifiable protected health information.
Coordinate delivery of medications to the patient
Manage patient orders to the point of Pharmacist verification to ensure the order is complete
and ready for final verification.
Accessing, inputting, and retrieving information through the Pharmacy's computer network to
maintain accurate records.
Utilized pharmacy systems technology and automation to optimize workflow and streamline
medication dispensing process.
Maintained inventory levels, conducted regular audits, and liaised with suppliers to ensure
availability of essential medications, resulting in reduced delays in patient care.
Collaborated with pharmacists to ensure accurate and timely preparation and distribution of
medications for inpatient and outpatient settings.
Comply with established procedures, rules, and regulations.
Promoting teamwork, professional services, and clear communication.
Recognizes and adheres to the scope / limitations of job requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.

Purpose
The Pharmacy Technician, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist working within a licensed pharmacy, performs the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of entering prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system, medication preparation, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Specific state law may regulate that only licensed individuals perform compounding or mixing responsibilities.

Prescription and Order Processing
Enter and process new prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system, in accordance with company policy and pharmacy regulations.
Sending and Processing Refill Requests.

Process third-party claims adjudication.
Accurately read and interpret prescriptions.
Verify patient information and ensure proper physician authorization.
Calculate correct dosage volumes and day supply, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
Accurately process all orders within our required Service Level Agreements.
Check all orders for completeness of information.
System and Program Support
Assist in maintaining the accuracy of software systems.
Understand and work within specific program guidelines.
Assist in working cross-functionally, including handling prescriber calls and shipment-related calls.
Support escalations and assist with communications involving leadership, pharmacists, program management, and third-party hubs
Sterile Compounding Technician

Applicants may have opportunities to be cross trained in Processing, Non-Sterile Compounding, and Logistics departments. Responsibilities:
Assist with the compounding of category 3 compounded sterile pharmaceutical preparations including but not limited to sterile solutions and suspensions under the supervision of the managing pharmacist. Please note: Hormones and other potentially hazardous chemicals are used in sterile compounding.
Working in an ISO 5-8 environment while performing essential duties to the compounding of sterile preparations
Performing routine compounding operations including preparation and sterilization of lab supplies, measuring, weighing, compounding, and participating in quarterly media fills, gloved fingertip sampling, and smoke studies.
Ensuring constant aseptic technique and processing while wearing all required personal protective equipment including sterile head to toe coveralls, bouffant, face mask, goggles, booties, and gloves.
Ability to perform duties related to material transfer, aseptic processing, and other cleanroom related duties such as cleaning and maintaining the cleanroom equipment
Openness to cross training and helping in the non-sterile compounding department when needed
Consistently meet standards of accuracy and potency
Package and label prescriptions, including bulk medications
Monitor inventory levels, re-order low inventory or expiring chemicals, and receive new inventory
Maintain accurate records including Compounding Records, SDS and Certificates of Analysis
Perform environmental monitoring and perform cleaning tasks per defined schedule and techniques
Quickly and efficiently solve problems and jump in to help the team whenever and wherever necessary
Must exhibit organizational skills and neatness.
About You:
You are registered with TX Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Technician.
Compounding: Recommended to have at least 2 years of experience working as a pharmacy technician directly with pharmacists in a compounding pharmacy
You have experience working in veterinary care or the medical field, or a strong interest in working in the field
You have a strong attention to detail
You have a customer-focused (and in our case, a pet-focused!) mindset
You thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Must be able to remain in a standing and walking position at least 80% of the time
Must be able to move boxes holding medications weighing up to 25lbs across the office
You have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and are a collaborative, team-player
You have an all-hands-on-deck attitude with an ability to remain calm and excel under pressure
You have the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures
You constantly strive to “wow” clients and patients
You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability
You're not afraid of wearing multiple hats - you pitch in to help the team when necessary
You have flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and any overtime deemed necessary
