    Job DescriptionDescription: In-Clinic Rx is a privately owned pharmacist collective offering both independent pharmacy, consulting, and clinical services located inside established medical facilities. The Pharmacy Technician role plays a vital role in supporting pharmacists and healthcare providers in delivering exceptional patient care within a clinical environment. This position is responsible for medication preparation, inventory management, patient assistance, and administrative tasks within a fast-paced clinical setting. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: Medication Preparation: Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently under the supervision of the pharmacist. Compound sterile and not-sterile medications, including intravenous (IV) admixtures and chemotherapy agents, following established protocols and guidelines. Perform medication calculations and ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications. 2. Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining pharmacy inventory levels by ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies. Monitor medication expiration dates and remove expired or recalled medications from inventory. Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies as needed. 3. Patient Assistance: Assist patients with medication selection, provide information on medication use, and answer medication-related inquiries. Process prescription orders, refill requests, and medication prior authorizations accurately and efficiently. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve medication-related issues and ensure optimal therapy outcomes for patients. 4. Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements. Enter prescription orders and patient information into the pharmacy computer system with diligence and accuracy. Assist in billing and insurance claims processing, including verifying insurance coverage and obtaining prior authorizations when necessary. 5. Quality Assurance: Adhere to pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards to ensure safe and effective medication management. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and medication safety programs to enhance patient care and minimize medication errors. Report any medication discrepancies, adverse drug reactions, or potential safety concerns to the supervising pharmacist promptly. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred. Long Term Care Technician experience preferred. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification or eligibility for certification required. Previous experience in a clinical pharmacy setting preferred. Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and medication safety practices. Excellent communication and people skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to use a keyboard to enter and retrieve data. Must have good eyesight to view computer monitor and phone. Lifting and/or carrying of 5 to 20 lbs. In addition to traditional Pharmacy Technician II - Clinical Services responsibilities (prescription entry, medication preparation, and customer service) within the in-house pharmacies, responsibilities include a variety of tasks which include contacting patients by phone for various clinical pharmacy and/or enabling services, maintaining the appointment schedules for the clinical pharmacists, preliminary patient interview during appointments, and data entry into various computer-based or web-based systems for the purposes of documentation or data collection. Essential Tasks The general responsibilities of this position will be to support comprehensive clinical pharmacy and enabling services of the department. These services include medication therapy management, medication adherence clinic, value-based model appointments, etc. The Clinical Services Pharmacy Technician is expected to communicate effectively with patients, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals. The Clinical Services Pharmacy Technician will contact patients over the phone (often times “cold calling”) for various clinical pharmacy and/or enabling services. The purpose of the contact with patients varies from the type of program but may include: appointment scheduling with the pharmacists; reconciling medication lists, allergy and medical conditions; obtaining other pertinent information as directed by the pharmacist; and educating qualified patients about the services and potential benefits. Position Overview Pharmacy Technicians at our Wilson Community Health Center are responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in various pharmacy services including patient eligibility as well as medication access, filling, and dispensing processes in accordance with applicable rules and laws set by governing bodies including the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. THIS POSITION OFFERS A 40-HOUR WORKWEEK, NO WEEKENDS, FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE, 12 PAID HOLIDAYS, BI-WEEKLY PAY. Essential Tasks The general responsibility of the Pharmacy Technician I, is to manage the pharmacy patient service area and all related patient service activities. The Pharmacy Technician I will also support the pharmacy in related dispensing activities, as needed. The pharmacy patient service area responsibilities include: accepting new or refill prescription requests from patients and distributing already prepared and dispensed prescriptions to patients or patient representatives. Upon accepting new or refill prescription requests from patients, the Pharmacy Technician I will ensure the patient is accurately registered with the pharmacy and will inquire with the patient if there have been any changes since the previous pharmacy visit. An adequate registration process includes the accurate entry of: name, address, date of birth, CFHC, Inc. medical record number, telephone number(s), medication allergies, and appropriate payment type. The Pharmacy Technician I will provide the new or refill prescription request to the pharmacy staff for processing. The Pharmacy Technician I is expected to answer the telephone promptly, within 4 rings, for refill requests and general pharmacy questions (more detailed questions to be forwarded to the Pharmacist). The Pharmacy Technician I will serve as an inquiry point for visitors of the health center and check in pharmacy patient appointments and notifying the appropriate staff member that the patient has arrived for the appointment. Experience and Education High school diploma or GED. National Pharmacy Technician certification required through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is preferred. Previous pharmacy work experience or Community Health Center experience preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus. NC Driver License. Basic computer skills. Self-directed with good organization skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently. Team player.
