Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for many pharmacy workflow tasks, including but not limited to data entry of prescriptions, counting and filling prescriptions, packaging and printing postage for completed prescriptions, and various inventory functions. Enter prescription information into the pharmacy software system promptly and accurately.
Obtain the appropriate drug product.

For in-person encounters, provides the offer to counsel to all patients picking up medications.
Packages and provides postage as necessary for mailing purposes.
Assists in inventory management (pharmaceuticals and supplies). Alerts pharmacy staff members of drug shortages or other potential problems ( i.e. expired medications, backordered products, etc.)
Maintain a working knowledge of the pharmacy software system, including ability to enter new patient registrations, fill prescriptions (new and refills), and fill a prescription utilizing barcode accuracy scan.
Maintain a working knowledge of NC MedAssist formulary and eligibility requirements.
Follow the chain of command when the pharmacy manager is not available.
The Pharmacy Technician will be directly supervised by the Pharmacy Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must be registered (in good standing), or willing to become registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
National technician certification (Cpht) preferred, but not required
Must have at least 1 year of previous pharmacy experience
Must have excellent verbal communication skills
Must be fluent in both English and Spanish and be able to speak, read and write in both languages.

The Dispensing Tech will follow all state and local laws and rules and regulations while assisting in the preparation and/or dispensing processes. Will also support as a chemo mixer as needed.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. This position requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing, voice and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.
DUTIES REQUIRED:
Function independently with the day-to-day operations of dispensing of oral medications. Have an understanding of community pharmacy with regards to the day-to-day filling of prescriptions through an electronic pharmacy system. i.e. QS/1 NRx. Responsible for ordering, stocking of all of the oral oncolytics and supportive medications. Responsible for adding new patients, updating patient's insurance plan, processing Rxs for payment, reconciling claims. Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment needed for the day-to-day operations of the Physician Dispensing Area. Obtain prior authorizations for oral medications. Assist patients with obtaining assistance. Provide instruction regarding medications that are being dispensed. Maintain strict confidentiality. Excellent communication skills. In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.

Bilingual Pharmacy Technician
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for many pharmacy workflow tasks, including but not limited to data entry of prescriptions, counting and filling prescriptions, packaging and printing postage for completed prescriptions, and various inventory functions. He/she assists patients in-person and via telephone with typical, non-clinical questions, and assists pharmacists wherever possible to ensure accurate and efficient dispensing of prescriptions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reconcile daily McKesson order against invoice and provide invoice to Office Manager.
Print daily drug log for previous working day, and PAP reports as necessary for ordering.
Service patient window and/or telephone with excellent customer service skills via a positive service demeanor to determine the needs of the client.
Screen incoming prescriptions and refill requests to ensure active certification and appropriate patient information (patient name, date of birth, allergies, etc.) is recorded and legible.
Fills prescriptions, as defined by statute, for patients under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist:
Enter prescription information into the pharmacy software system promptly and accurately.
Obtain the appropriate drug product.
Count the proper number of dosage units to be dispensed.
Label drug product properly including any auxiliary warning labels.
Has pharmacist review and dispense completed prescription.
For in-person encounters, provides the offer to counsel to all patients picking up medications.
Packages and provides postage as necessary for mailing purposes.
Assists in inventory management (pharmaceuticals and supplies). Alerts pharmacy staff members of drug shortages or other potential problems ( i.e. expired medications, backordered products, etc.)
Maintain a working knowledge of the pharmacy software system, including ability to enter new patient registrations, fill prescriptions (new and refills), and fill a prescription utilizing barcode accuracy scan.
Maintain a working knowledge of NC MedAssist formulary and eligibility requirements.
Follow the chain of command when the pharmacy manager is not available.
The Pharmacy Technician will be directly supervised by the Pharmacy Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must be registered (in good standing), or willing to become registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
National technician certification (Cpht) preferred, but not required
Must have at least 1 year of previous pharmacy experience
Must have excellent verbal communication skills
Must be fluent in both English and Spanish and be able to speak, read and write in both languages.
Must be willing to participate as part of a team to establish relationships that foster optimal quality of patient care.
