Assists in maintaining proper supplies for filling all orders accurately and in a timely manner.
Makes deliveries to patients at bedside ensuring customer satisfactions while collecting necessary documentation and payment for medication.
Completes charging of medications dispensed accurately to insurance companies and patients
Completes all assigned daily tasks and assists others when time permits.
Quality/Service
Responds to incoming calls politely, efficiently, and in a timely manner and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
Processes patient charges for pharmaceuticals in an efficient and timely manner, credits and returns to stock any medication not used by patients, and accurately and efficiently records narcotic charges for patients in order to ensure that high quality pharmacy services are provided to all patients.
Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follows all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff, selection and retrieval of medications of correct strength and dosage from prescribed, transcribing prescription data to labels using typewriters or computer systems, preparing prescriptions for review by a BOP/Public Health Service (PHS) Pharmacist prior to dispensing, and giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate.
The contractor will not fill, issue and/or deal in any way with DEA controlled substances but can be responsible for the running of all pill lines upon proper orientation by the Pharmacist.
The contractor will assist the Pharmacist in ensuring that only medications listed in the approved BOP Formulary are dispensed and will ensure that request for non-formulary medications are initiated and submitted to the Pharmacist for approval.
The Contractor should be proficient in maintaining adequate inventories of all medications and medical supplies and preparing the proper paperwork for replenishment of inventory, as well as maintaining an expiration date log to ensure that no outdated or expired stock remains in the inventory.
The contractor will assist in updating patient education literature, assisting in improvement of performance studies and assist the Pharmacist in meeting policy guidelines for the AICs.
The contractor will prepare recommended supply lists to order pharmaceuticals, maintain the pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion, maintain stock of appropriate forms utilized in the Pharmacy Department and, shall in the absence of the Pharmacist, maintain the Pharmacy operation, within guidelines governing the duties of the Pharmacy Technician.
Prescriptions must be reviewed by a pharmacist prior to dispensing to the AIC population. The Pharmacy Technician should be able to accurately input a minimum of 25 prescriptions per hour.
Experience Requirements
Minimum least 1 year of experience providing Pharmacy Technician services.
Qualifications
Must have a certificate of training for Pharmacy Technician services.
Must have Mississippi state pharmacy technician license.
Must hold CPR Certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
Schedule
