Position Summary:
The Specialty Pharmacy Technician obtains referrals and clinical progress notes, completes prior authorizations, ensures proper documentation in all relevant platforms, communicates with medical staff and patients, and dispenses specialty medication prescriptions in accordance with all applicable practice standards under the direct supervision of a Specialty Clinical Pharmacist.

Your contribution to the team includes:
* Comply with all federal, state and agency regulatory standards as related to specialty pharmacy practice.
* Dispense medicine prescribed to patients according to the instruction/supervision of the specialty Pharmacist. This entails data entry, including insurance input and billing, counting, labeling, and packaging.
* Process third party insurance claims online and complete prior authorizations as necessary.
* Research all available sources and apply available patient assistance programs to ensure patient access to specialty medications
* Answer/triage phone calls from patients and medical staff.
* Answer nonclinical questions for patients or providers, or refer them to the Specialty Clinical Pharmacist
* Arrange all medication shipments and deliveries, including packaging and facilitating deliveries through external vendors and internal couriers, to be executed on time, and in accordance with all internal shipping standards ensuring all temperature sensitive shipped specialty medications meet necessary stability standards. Participate in internal cold chain and other testing procedures, including validation of new shipping supplies
* Perform all necessary calls to patients as part of the refill process; document information in relevant platforms like dispensing software, care planning platform and EMR as necessary.
* Return prescriptions to stock as needed per Pharmacy procedure.
* Obtain referrals and patient consult notes from multiple medical organizations and upload information on to relevant data platforms
* Document relevant patient and outside/internal provider encounters in internal systems like EMR, dispensing software and care planning platform
* Assist with gathering data and compiling reports as directed.
* Order, receive and stock medications and supplies from wholesaler's and/or distributors; manage medication inventory on daily basis including but not limited to all functions related to expired and outdated products for reverse distribution, inventory management system-Datarithm, DSCSA compliance monitoring system Advasur 360, ensure that all on hand quantities of medication within dispensing software are accurate.
* Maintain good attendance, is punctual and works full scheduled shift is a condition of employment.

Must have's you'll need to be successful:

* Maintain current registration/licensure with Washington State as an accredited Pharmacy Technician.
* Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Must be a great listener, capable of empathy and patience. Confidence, friendliness, and outgoing personality is an asset. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients as well as various levels of internal and external colleagues. Must be able to document thoroughly. Bi-lingual is preferred.
* Work assignments are routine and regularly recurring and require attention and concentration. planning discretion and consideration are necessary to adequately carry out work activities. Able to perform multiple tasks at a high level during busy and stressful periods of the day.
* Possess intermediate to advanced operating knowledge of computers. Three to five years of experience with computerized pharmacy software preferred. Knowledge and experience in processing prescriptions including problem solving third party issues is required. Ability to learn and operate EMR and care planning platform is required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel preferred.

Minimum Requirements:

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, engages in technical aspects of pharmacy practice including, but not limited to, all non-clinical steps of prescriptions filling and immunizations, phone communications, resolution of insurance related issues, resolution of patient care issues, provision of assistance to pharmacists and other healthcare providers, maintenance of records and inventory management.

Your contribution to the team includes:
* Comply with all federal, state and agency regulatory standards as related to pharmacy practice.
* Dispense medicine prescribed to patients according to the instruction/supervision of the Pharmacist Which includes data entry, including insurance input and billing, counting and labeling, and packaging.
* Process third party insurance claims online and obtain prior authorizations, as necessary. Resolve any insurance issues, including rejections.
* Validate patient eligibility to fill 340B prescriptions when necessary.
* Communicate with medical providers, and look up information, through EMR system when necessary.
* Answer phone calls from customers and medical providers.
* Collect co-pays from patients and perform cash register duties at pharmacy counter including end of day pharmacy POS system procedures and ensuring correctness of reports.
* Return prescriptions to stock as needed per Pharmacy procedure.
* Assist MAP Coordinator in processing manufacturer-supplied medications, applications, and contacting patients.
* Order, receive and stock medications and supplies from wholesalers and/or distributors; manage medication inventory on daily basis including but not limited to all functions related to expired and outdated products for reverse distribution, inventory management system-Datarithm, DSCSA compliance monitoring system Advasur 360, ensure that all on hand quantities of medication within dispensing software are accurate.
* Float to other pharmacy sites as needed.
* Prepare, administer, and document IM and SQ shots under direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
* Transfer non-controlled substance prescriptions between pharmacies either electronically or by fax.
* May assist pharmacist on interpretive skills to convey instructions from pharmacist to patient on medication information.
* Maintain assigned work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
* Facilitate and support established workflows.
* May fill and maintain medication in automated dispensing machines.
* May train patients on how to properly utilize at home devices like blood pressure and blood glucose monitors.
* Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and any other meetings or trainings as required.
Must have's you'll need to be successful:
* Pharmacy Technician Certification from accredited pharmacy technician program.
* Completion of appropriate Technician Immunization Training Program: HealthPoint will provide training after hire if needed; such training must be completed after the first 90 days but before 120 days of employment.
* Maintain current registration/licensure with Washington State as an accredited Pharmacy Technician.
* Completion of Technician Immunization Training Program: appropriateness of training will be assessed by upon hire; training will be provided by HealthPoint if needed.
* Possess intermediate to advanced operating knowledge of computers.
* Ability to learn and operate pharmacy dispensing software and EMR system.
* Knowledge of processing prescriptions including problem-solving third-party issues.

The pharmacy technician has high level security clearance with access to all medication storage areas, procedural areas, surgical suites, etc. The pharmacy technician works in a highly regulated environment and must take care to abide by all state and federal regulations that relate to the practice of pharmacy including record keeping and infection prevention standards. Responsibilities include accurately performing pharmaceutical calculations, compounding non-sterile dosage forms, and effectively utilizing inventory management systems and automated dispensing cabinets.
The pharmacy technician practices in a fast paced and often high stress environment with constant interruptions, phone calls, requests from clinical staff and requests from pharmacists.
