Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

We are looking a professional pharmacy technician to work closely with our clinical providers to ensure the health and safety of our patients. Under general supervision, the pharmacy technician is responsible for the organization and maintenance of the medication room and provides support to providers and patients of the pharmacy room. Reports to the Clinical Support Services Manager.
Determines which eligible patients may be able to participate in pharmaceutical drug sponsored plans; keep and maintain a log of all medications provided to patients; fills orders from clinical providers for sample medications; assists and updates the ongoing audit of the pharmacy program; and enter data in patient records regarding the type and quantity of drugs prescribed for patients.
Meet with pharmaceutical representatives and accept sample medications upon approval of the Chief Medical Officer; order, supply, inventory, and secure all prescription pads; order and maintainformularies and desk reference guides; and maintains pharmacy database.
Prepares and distributes monthly reports on the cash value of medications to the Clinical Support Services Manager; notifies the Clinical Support Services Manager of any changes to medication support programs or process changes; and checks the Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) message boards for updates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician Training program and an unrestricted license as a Pharmacy Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia.; 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred; and Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association is required. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience: One year of experience as a pharmacy technician after graduation. A minimum of 24 months experience within the preceding 36 months as a Pharmacy Technician. At least six (6) of the 24 months of experience must be performed immediately prior to performing services under this task order.
