In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB or ExCPT certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB or ExCPT certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB or ExCPT certification.

Job Description

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician supports the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients served by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Assists registered pharmacists in performing nonprofessional duties in an institutional pharmacy; receives, inspects, stores, and fills orders for pharmaceutical supplies. Nature of work involves continuous close attention to detail and some potential exposure to hazardous substances.
Under supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs the following essential job functions:
Accurately prepares unit dose medications, compounds a variety of pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including intravenous admixtures according to proper aseptic technique and in accordance with, professional standards and departmental policies and procedures, in order to maintain required levels of supply and to provide patients with needed medications;
Prepares or repackages drugs and pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a Pharmacist, in amounts needed to fill written orders/prescriptions in order to provide patients with needed medication and to maintain required levels of supply;
Prepares medication labels based on written orders from physicians and other professional staff according to California State Board of Pharmacy requirements;
Records billing information for accurate and appropriate billing of patients for medications, involving use of desktop computer keyboard for entering medication orders and billing information;
Maintains drug and pharmaceutical stock levels by counting and checking stores of drugs and pharmaceuticals against standard, pre-set stock levels, ordering and verifying deliveries against invoices to ensure accuracy;
Inspects and stores delivered stock in the pharmacy patient care areas by sorting and shelving them for optimal retrieval;
Delivers, retrieves, and exchanges medications and pharmaceutical items to and from specified areas, or for dispensing by cart to ensure that clinical and patient needs are met;
Provides information to patients, public and other healthcare providers within the scope of Technician activities through a variety of methods, including personal contact, at the Pharmacy window, in patient care areas, and by telephone or video. This does not include medication counseling or providing drug information;
Orients and trains new personnel, pharmacy students, or others on departmental policies and procedures appropriate to a Technician's scope of work;
Uses, maintains, and troubleshoots automated dispensing equipment or relevant pharmacy-related software and other equipment necessary for pharmacy operations;
Accurately prepares, dispenses, and documents controlled substance orders, and maintains accurate inventory records.
The 2409 Pharmacy Technician also performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB TITLE: Compounding Technician
POSITION SUMMARY: The Compounding Technician works within a team environment to lead the compounding process to ensure production schedules are met and company standards and procedures are strictly followed. This position will also be expected to act as a trainer to others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure proper stock and availability of materials, supplies, and equipment needed for production.
Ensure all raw materials are available the day prior to production run.
Prepare all parts of the recipe according to GMP guidelines, ensure subpart steps of the recipe are completed and accurate according to the formulations and calculations.
Manage and complete all receiving of raw materials ensure that all information has been accurately reflected in ERP platform.
Enter batch details needed to complete production runs including tracking and recording any non-standard or authorized deviations of the current recipe format, entering all batch information into recipe document and ERP platform.
Maintain attention to detail ensuring that all equipment has the same output: weight, volume, appearance and consistency.
Manage proper storage location of all final product, ensuring product is completely covered, batch labeled accurately, and sealed from further oxidation.
Provide a sample of final product to QC for pH and microbial testing, making time to work with QC on pH adjustments that may be required with certain recipes.
Verify that only accurate, current, and authorized documentation is available in production area.
Track production and ensure all deadlines and schedules are met.
Ensure that production area is clean and organized. Ensure all equipment used for each batch is thoroughly sanitized.
Attend all production meetings.
Participate in inventory stock take of raw materials and manage documentation of final count numbers.
Ensure work meets or exceeds standards and monitor quality to fix problems immediately.
Adhere to safety rules including using required personal protective equipment.
Train staff on the proper techniques and duties of the compounding role at Marie Veronique.
Cross-train and perform filling, labeling and inventory/shipping duties as requested.
Serves as the senior employee on site when the Supervisor or a comparable manager is not available.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

About the role
The Data Entry Pharmacy Technician is responsible for typing prescriptions, answering incoming phone calls, completing Zendesk tickets, and delivering excellent customer service. This is a full-time position, reporting to the Customer Care Pharmacist.
What you'll do
Answer incoming calls from patients and doctors' offices
Accurately enter information and search the appropriate database system to: respond to patients' or doctors' inquiries, complete patient intakes, type new prescriptions, process refills, and check status of orders
Call Escalation: When needed, collect data and create accurate and detailed Zendesk “tickets” for escalated calls so the appropriate party is able to assist customers
Demonstrate exceptional, professional, and genuine etiquette and phone skills when answering calls, placing callers on hold, transferring calls, taking messages, or other duties
Use a variety of technology and information resources to attempt to provide First Call Resolution to customers
Follow a set of guidelines designed to provide consistent service and answers to customers
Use your best critical thinking and problem-solving skills to try to help the customer
Assist and collaborate with a large team of pharmacists, data entry, compounding technicians, and shipping personnel to fulfill orders efficiently

Description Salary Range: $38.46 - $51.92 Pharmacy Technician Supervisor duties will includes developing, organizing, and implementing programs, policies and procedures necessary to manage and control all pharmacy technician services, and assure quality distributive pharmacy services working closely with Pharmacy Leadership team. Personnel: interviewing and evaluating candidates for the pharmacy technician positions and making recommendations to the Director of Pharmacy. Has oversight of pharmacy technician training, competency, identifying staff with performance and/or behavioral concerns, and assisting in the annual performance evaluation process for technicians. Continuous supervision of new employees during the orientation/ evaluation period, ensuring that technicians maintain their competencies. Responsible for scheduling of technicians and etime compliance.
Operations/ Inventory management: monitor pharmacy tech's workflow to optimize inventory efficiency while minimize waste. Also ensure and perform analysis of quarterly return of expired meds & wastes and working closely with the buyers overseeing the purchases while maintaining an appropriate supply of pharmaceuticals in the most cost-efficient manner. Work closely with 340B coordinator with auditing and compliance with purchases.
