Under the general supervision of the pharmacy supervisor/pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician or Hospital Lab Technician II (HLT II) assists in all activities required for ensuring patient access to medications. Major duties include processing of prescriptions, preparation of medications, prior authorization, financial assistance, refill authorizations, medication preparation and patient outreach within applicable policies, procedures and regulations.

Observes and communicates any changes in resident physical or mental status as directed.
Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons and other emergency procedures, follows Community policies and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans.
Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment.
Maintains a neat and orderly Medication Room.
Maintain a clean well organized medication cart, ensuring all meds are properly labeled, stored appropriately, medication is ordered timely, cycle fill is properly maintained.
Medication carts are restocked for the oncoming shift, trash removed, spills cleaned.
Wears name tag all the time, following the community dress code.
Assists residents moving in or out of the community. Include admission note of observations and discharge details in progress notes.
Count Narcotics at change of each shift validation of correct count, alert immediately to WL and WD if count is off.
Ensuring that every resident has a monthly full set of vital signs and weight or more often as applicable per physician order.
Maintains current resident record for each resident including but not limited to obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting.
Orders, stores and assists with medications according to community policy and procedure and current physician orders.
Maintains, transcribes and documents in the Medication Assistance Record (MAR) according to Policy and Procedure.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
More than one (1) year previous experience as a nuclear medicine technician
Current on continuing education units required by the licensing boards
Special training in Nuclear Medicine
California Nuclear Medicine Technician certification (CT NMT)
Current AHA CPR card (CT CPRBLS)
Special Skills:
Demonstrates knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedures in vivo and in vitro Radiopharmacy-dose calibration and calculations bio-routing of labeled products computers and some computer processing.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of individuals.
Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team oriented environment.
Self-motivated and able to achieve results through good organizational skills.

Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, when assigned to an inpatient practice area, performs those repetitive and manipulative activities which primarily consist of drug distribution duties, pre-packaging, maintaining the inventory in the Pyxis medstations (filling the medstation daily, checking for outdates), IV and chemotherapy sterile compounding, record keeping (refrigerator temperature logs and hood cleaning), billing, housekeeping and security functions.
