Responsibilities
+ Prepare and admix sterile IV products under laminar flow hoods or biological safety cabinets
+ Reconstitute medications, calculate drug volumes, and measure accurate dosages
+ Transfer drugs into appropriate solutions and label products per policy
+ Maintain inventory of medications, solutions, and departmental supplies
+ Operate automated compounding devices and track medication expiration dates
+ Clean and maintain sterile compounding areas according to USP 797 standards
+ Complete required documentation and adhere to pharmacy practice laws
+ Communicate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, dietitians, billing teams, and external customers
+ Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

Understands how to read and interpret prescription orders and determine correct quantities based on the sig and accurately calculate dosages based on the patients weight.
Understands and administers the different medication formularies and follows Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington policies, procedures and protocols. Maintains current knowledge of basic drug information and medical terminology.
Supports the pharmacists by assuming responsibility for any additional operational functions as requested by the pharmacists or pharmacy manager.

Compounds nonsterile preparations per compounding standards established by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP 795) (WAC 246-945-100).
Transcribes physician orders into the computers and monitors label printing.
Transcribed orders are check and initialed by a licensed pharmacist.
Receipt and processing of written & verbal profile information (i.e., allergies, medications) into pharmacy software system
Review patient profile to retrieve specific clerical and other information as directed by a pharmacist.
Performs tasks under pharmacist's supervision such as obtaining individual prepackaged, labeled medications for prescriptions, obtains stock bottles for prescription filling.
Removes expired and/or recalled medication from the pharmacy shelves and isolates them away from other medication.

What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health
Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy
What is expected of you for success in your role
Demonstrates basic knowledge of radiopharmaceutical compounding and dispensing procedures
Follows basic radiation safety principles as outlined in the corporate radiation safety manual
Follows established guidelines for the dispensing of routine prescription orders, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist
Follows established guidelines for delivery routing
Assists in non-dispensing activities
Follows established guidelines for the operation of survey meters, dose calibrators and wipe test analyzers, under direct supervision
Responsibilities
Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
Draw doses into either a syringe or vial
Perform quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines
Receive, document, and store incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
Maintain computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
Assist and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
Perform general laboratory and facility clean up
May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
Make deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
Qualifications
0-1 years of experience, preferred
High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
WATechnician license strongly preferred
Experience with sterile compounding preferred
Customer/vendor credentialing (this may include vaccinations). More details will be provided during if you are selected for an interview
