In accordance with state and federal regulations, assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

Operations
Under the supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow.
Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adheres to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration. Otherwise, earns PTCB certification as condition of promotion to senior technician.
Attends training requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills so they can fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.

Position Overview

Under the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. Many of your duties will include:
* Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval
* Draw doses into either a syringe or vial
* Perform quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelines.
* Receive, document, and store incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines
* Maintain computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs
* Assist and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products
* Perform general laboratory and facility clean up
* May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records
* Make deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed
* Speak with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone
* Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding
Qualifications
* High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred
* Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, licensure as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
* Certification may be required
* Experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred
* Strong customer service skills
* Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, and holding of small objects
* Demonstrated manual dexterity to dispense doses
* Ability to lift containers weighing up to 75 pounds
* Must hold a valid driver's license in the state in which the pharmacy is located
* Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)

Under the direction of the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the activities of the inpatient pharmacy technician and service clerk staff, narcotic tracking and accountability, new hire orientation and training, facilitation of cross-training and development of current and future technician staff, oversight of outdate sections in the central pharmacy, unit inspections, and technician scheduling. This role will play a part on the pharmacy leadership team and will be involved in, or will lead, committee meetings, process improvement initiatives, and implementations of new systems. This job will be directly responsible for performance matters and evaluation of pharmacy technician and pharmacy service clerk staff.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with courses in mathematics and basic algebra required. Must have at least 2 years of pharmacy tech experience in a hospital setting, with a preference towards individuals with previous experience in a leadership type role. A medical terminology course is preferred.
Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan. Must have nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB, CPhT, or equivalent) within one year of hire into the Pharmacy Technician job. Pharmacy students currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with a valid pharmacy intern license are not required to have Pharmacy Technician Certification.
Must be qualified at the Pharmacy Technician II level. To be eligible for a Pharmacy Technician II job, must demonstrate 12 months of Level 1 competency (or equivalent) and is competent in 4 identified areas. A technician may advance to Level 2 once he/she has demonstrated 12 months of competency in 4 identified functional areas. An exception to the 12 month guideline can be made for a technician with several years of previous pharmacy technician experience who has clearly demonstrated competency at an accelerated rate (may be seen especially in initial transition and with new hires with substantial prior hospital pharmacy technician experience).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clean, well lighted & temperature controlled environment. May work in chemotherapy preparation satellite, working with hazardous carcinogens, however, normal safety precautions and protective equipment are provided to minimize risk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time.
Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Pharmacy, the Pharmacist provides services in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, professional regulations and standards and Provincial and Federal statutes. Principle functions include drug procurement, drug distribution, and clinical pharmacy activities.
