All Neighborhood Health Pharmacy staff will abide by the standards of accreditation in Mail Order Pharmacy and Specialty Pharmacy. DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: ( Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job) Must be willing to assume the duties of Weekend Part-Time Pharmacist. Provides professional pharmacy services as appropriate and pharmaceutical consultation to staff physician and nurses regarding appropriate therapeutic selection. Verify that every pharmacist working at your pharmacy holds a current license to practice pharmacy. Notify the Board of any theft or unusual losses of drugs as soon as discovered. Ensure all security measures are in compliance and operational. Maintains and uses up-to-date patient drug profiles. Assists in maintaining an up-to-date formulary; uses the formulary to dispense the proper generic or brand-name drug as prescribed by Neighborhood Health provider staff. This position is not involved in the dispensing process and duties are limited to delivering medications, picking up hard copy prescriptions, and handling payment transactions. Responsibilities also include, maintaining the OTC area in the pharmacy, picking up McKesson orders from the inpatient pharmacy, delivering mail to the mail room, and restocking pharmacy supplies. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.Cleans and straightens OTC shelves while maintaining plan-o-gram displays.Collects payment for prescriptions, secures appropriate signatures for medication deliveries, and complies with all HIPAA requirements.Delivers and receives ingoing and outgoing mail from the mail room.Delivers prescriptions to MedStar employees throughout the hospital, or to inpatient for employee pickup.Delivers prescriptions to patients' nurse or provider. Hands prescriptions to patient's nurse or provider in secure bag to be held in storage on the floor until patient is discharged.Maintains the pickup bins in a neat and orderly fashion; files completed prescriptions alphabetically, combines bags of the same patients, and retrieves completed orders for pickup.Picks up McKesson order from the inpatient pharmacy.Restocks pharmacy supplies (vials, paper, labels, bags and bottles).Retrieves hard copy prescriptions from around the hospital as requested, and brings them back to the pharmacy for processing.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
