    Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Department: Pharmacy Shift: Nights Daily Work Times: 10:00 p.m. - 8:30 a.m. Scheduled Biweekly Hours: 80 Rate of Pay: $18.10 to $22.45 based on experience Third Shift Premium: 8.25% Under the direct supervision of the Director of Pharmaceutical Services or a Registered Pharmacist - and according to the standard procedures - compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving prescriptions from physicians or other qualified prescribes, dispenses additives for IV and irrigation solutions, mixes IV additive solutions as required using aseptic technique, with the laminar flow hood, types labels, prepares and files charge slips, and performs other related duties. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, weighs measures and mixes ingredients compounds and prepares medications, emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments using such equipment as graduates, balance, mortars, pestles and funnels. 2. Replenishes medications in emergency crash carts, EMT boxes, or floor stock atears accurately. 3. Accurately fills bottles, capsules, or other package forms with measured amounts of medication according to the prescription. 4. Prepackages bulk medications in unit dose packages accurately within specified time periods. 5. Makes round delivering prescriptions to the nursing stations. 6. Files physician's orders. 7. Data entry of physicians orders and patient information into pharmacy computer system. 8. Utilizes and operates automated dispensing technology (Omnicell) to facilitate inventory management and medication storage. 9. Charges appropriate patient and/or patient care area for medications and supplies as outlined by standard departmental procedures. 10. Organizes outdated or overstocked medications to ship back to manufacturers for credit. 11. Regularly dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions. Mixes IV additive solutions and chemotherapy as required using aseptic technique with the laminar flow hood. 12. Prepares intravenous ad mixtures or other sterile products (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) accurately and according to established standards. 13. Cleans the laminar flow hood and working area. 14. Prepares reports on IV activity as requested on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, as requested. Required Qualifications: Possess high school diploma or equivalent. Licensed to practice as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan. Possess 6 months of job-related experience or completion of a pharmacy technician-training program or currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy. Trained and educated in age-specific categories being served: neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
