PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Neighborhood Health is a community health center with multiple clinics in Northern Virginia that provides services to a predominately low-income and underserved patient populations. The Weekend Part-Time Pharmacist will assure the availability, quality, continuity, and appropriateness of pharmacy services for our patient population; assure the management of Neighborhood Health pharmacy activities within a pharmacy in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and the Drug Control Act. All Neighborhood Health Pharmacy staff will abide by the standards of accreditation in Mail Order Pharmacy and Specialty Pharmacy. DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: ( Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job) Must be willing to assume the duties of Weekend Part-Time Pharmacist. Provides professional pharmacy services as appropriate and pharmaceutical consultation to staff physician and nurses regarding appropriate therapeutic selection. Verify that every pharmacist working at your pharmacy holds a current license to practice pharmacy. Verify that every pharmacy technician working at your pharmacy holds a current registration, or that there is documentation on site showing enrollment in a Board approved training program for not more than 9 months. Be responsible for ensuring that the practice of pharmacy is in overall compliance with laws and regulations. Assists in supervision of all pharmacy activities and maintains records as specified by the Drug Control Act. Provide safeguards against diversion of all controlled substances and drugs. Ensure the annual inventory of all drugs in Schedules II, III, IV, and V, to include any expired drugs in Schedules II-V, is performed. Ensure the pharmacy complies each month with the perpetual inventory requirement of Schedule II drugs found in Regulation 18VAC110-20-240. Notify the Board of any theft or unusual losses of drugs as soon as discovered. Ensure all security measures are in compliance and operational. Maintains and uses up-to-date patient drug profiles. Assists in maintaining an up-to-date formulary; uses the formulary to dispense the proper generic or brand-name drug as prescribed by Neighborhood Health provider staff. Assists in selection and control of all pharmacy drug stocks and supplies and maintains inventory. Assists in the administration of pharmacy audit procedures. Maintain pharmacy license in good standing. Performs necessary compounding, using appropriate supplies, equipment, and ingredients. Assists in development of appropriate clinical pharmacy goals and objectives. Provides patient medication counseling and education through the proper use of labels, accessory labels, and personal contact. Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of staff of pharmacists and support staff. Provide pharmacy technician Board approved training program. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Pharmacist license must be free of restrictions to bill Medicaid and Medicare. Five years of experience in ambulatory care pharmacy including more than one year of experience in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of a pharmacy. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse work force and client base. Experience with information technology, electronic health records, medical records, culturally diverse populations, and care of underserved populations. Experience with database maintenance and reporting. Knowledge of local health care environment. Fluency in Spanish a plus. Knowledge of 340B Program and Patient Assistance Programs a plus. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities * Organizes prescription orders on the counter in order of priority; retrieves labels from the printer; arranges paperwork labels monographs and bags; uses appropriate stamps and notes; and retrieves stock from the shelf. * Performs phone and face-to-face customer service functions such as: taking in refill requests new prescriptions calls doctors for refill authorizations and pre-authorizations. Troubleshoots patients' questions and concerns. * Prepares prescriptions for dispensing: counts and verifies medication labels vials appropriately and prioritizes waiters. * Processes cash check credit card and payroll deduction transactions; secures appropriate signatures; ensures compliance with HIPAA requirements; prepares delivery tickets; reconciles delivery transactions; performs end of day register procedures; runs daily cash report and completes deposits as assigned. * Processes refills and performs data entry of new prescriptions including demographics insurance plans and prescription information under the supervision of a pharmacist and according to policy; brings to the attention of a pharmacist any claims requiring overrides or interventions; troubleshoots insurance claim rejects; and follows up on problem prescriptions. * Receives checks and puts away the daily order; returns medication to the shelf after filling; follows established inventory management procedures; participates in physical inventory process at intervals determined by management. * Greets customers immediately either in person or within three rings via telephone; performs intake of refill requests and new prescriptions gathers patient demographics and insurance information; clearly marks and prioritizes waiting customers. Monitors the waiting room by making sure they know who is waiting and whom they are waiting for. Minimal Qualifications Education * High School Diploma or GED required Experience * 6 months pharmacy technician experience in a retail setting or equivalent training required Licenses and Certifications * Must have successfully completed the pharmacy technician certification through the nationally accredited certification examination of PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) within 180 Days required or the ExCPT (Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians) within 180 Days required and * Pharmacy technician licensure or registration as required by the state where the pharmacy is located required This position has a hiring range of USD $19.17 - USD $33.08 /Hr.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital team with a primary focus on medication deliveries. This role is essential in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of medications and supplies to various departments within the hospital, supporting patient care and pharmacy operations. Responsibilities * Efficiently deliver medications, supplies, and pharmaceutical products to designated hospital units and departments. * Maintain accurate delivery logs and ensure proper documentation of all transactions. * Verify patient and unit information to ensure correct delivery. * Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals regarding deliveries. * Follow all hospital protocols and safety procedures, including infection control and HIPAA compliance. * Assist with inventory management related to delivery items. * Report any discrepancies, delays, or issues to the pharmacy team promptly. * Perform designated technical functions to facilitate pharmacy operations. * Under the supervision of the licensed Pharmacist, prepare oral, topical, and all parenteral medications for dispensing to patients. * Monitor stock inventory levels and medication expiration dates for pharmacy areas and replenish medications as needed. * Conduct monthly/periodic inspections of patient care/department areas. * Complete and maintain controlled substance inventory log/records. * Maintain clean and orderly workstations. Essential Skills * Pharmacy licensed in D.C. required. * 1-2 years of experience in Retail, Oncology, or Hospital settings. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Compounding and fulfillment experience preferred. * Experience with Pyxis systems. * Hospital experience preferred but not required. * High school degree or GED diploma required. * DC Department of Health (DOH) registration required. Work Environment This position is based in a hospital setting with afternoon/mid-shift hours from 3pm-11pm, Monday through Friday, with rotating weekends. Training may occur on the day shift depending on experience. The pharmacy department operates at an extremely fast-paced environment, filling one prescription per minute within 24 hours in one department. Technicians handle a minimum of 2,000 dosages in one shift and are constantly on their feet for eight hours with two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch. Hospitals are a 24/7 operation, so candidates must expect to rotate holidays and weekends. In inclement weather, the hospital will compensate for Ubers round trip. Candidates are expected to pay for parking; however, there is an additional 50 cents per hour to help with reimbursement.
