Key Responsibilities * Receive prescriptions from clinicians electronically, review for completeness and accuracy of patient information. * Enter and process patient prescriptions into the pharmacy database/electronic health record for hard copy prescriptions. * Respond to routine questions regarding availability, cost, size, etc. of prescriptions. * Prepare labels for prescriptions. * Retrieve appropriate medication from inventory with which to fill prescriptions. * Perform pull and count tasks of filling prescriptions. Knowledge Skills and Abilities The ideal candidate should have a solid working knowledge of brand and generic drug names, prescription packaging and labeling, and drug disposal protocols, along with familiarity with the standards, ethics, laws, and regulations governing pharmacy practices in California. They must be able to understand and use pharmacy and medical terminology, perform accurate recordkeeping and inventory management, and ensure proper packaging and labeling of medications. Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and diplomatically with patients, staff, and colleagues are essential. The candidate should be computer literate, able to work autonomously and under pressure, and consistently comply with HIPAA regulations and Student Health Services policies. They must demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality and be capable of working effectively as part of a collaborative team while maintaining a respectful and cooperative attitude across a diverse population.
