The Pharmacy Technician will assist in performing paraprofessional tasks that will ensure a high quality of pharmacy service.

Your Job Requirements:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• IV certification preferred
• Registered technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or Pharmacy student current Pharmacy Intern License
• 1 year of Pharmacy experience preferred
• Hospital Pharmacy experiences preferred
• Computer skills preferred, but not required
• Ability to maintain confidentially and patient privacy standards set by the department as well as hospital
Your Job Responsibilities
• Answers the telephone and front window.
• Compounds products in IV Lab using sterile, aseptic technique
• Gathers items needed for miscellaneous requisitions, orders, crash carts, etc. to be checked by pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Maintains clean and orderly work area; restocks returned medications, restocks work area to appropriate levels.
• Assists in maintaining inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies by notifying purchasing when items become low or increased usage of particular items in observed: utilized the “short list”.
• Maintains drug storage systems through restock and trouble-shooting functions
• Maintains Unit Inspections outside the department
• Makes scheduled rounds to all nursing units for the delivery of medications and the pick-up of discontinued medications and orders as needed.
• Makes non-scheduled rounds to any nursing unit as required.
• Perform charges and credits for floor stock sheets, narcotic sheets, miscellaneous charge slips, and returned medications into computer system.
• Processes medications in assigned area (OR, IV lab, first fill) in preparation of final dispensing by the pharmacist.
• Trains new employees as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned

Primary Responsibilities
Prepare sterile compounded medications under pharmacist supervision
Maintain accuracy and compliance with USP standards and state board regulations
Follow aseptic technique and proper gowning procedures in cleanroom environments
Maintain detailed records and documentation per SOP and regulatory requirements
Perform daily cleaning, labeling, and inventory management tasks

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.

Responsibilities
Evaluates and monitor drug therapy relative to the total needs of the home care patient in collaboration with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Adheres to organization policies and procedures and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
Adheres to all appropriate standards of accreditationand participate in quality assurance activities.
Coordinates and facilitate new referrals and admissions through collaboration with nurses, customer service and distribution.
Reviews, receives and verifies all new patient orders and document on the respective order form.
Assists the physician and other involved healthcare professionals with:
Planning and implementing patient care in the home;
Setting therapeutic objectives for drug therapy;
Establishing parameters for monitoring the safety and efficacy of drug therapy; and
Preparting regular progress reports.
Conducts and document initial and ongoing assessment of specific patient, drug and disease information to identify real and potential drug-related problems or needs.
Monitors the outcomes of drug therapy by collecting, evaluating and interpreting the results of laboratory data, clinical data and other pertinent patient information.
Provides consultation and answer inquiries from patients, families, physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding drugs and their use.
Maintains thorough and appropriate documentation in the customer/patient record of all clinical activities and communication with patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Processes and check all medications, supplies and equipment prior to dispensing from the pharmacy.
Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences
Compounds sterile mixtures and non-mixtures, including, but not limited to parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, hydration and narcotic analgesics, using aseptic technique where state laws permit
Ensures compounding/clean room areas and related equipment are cleaned, sanitized and maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures, and USP 797 and USP 800 standards
Documents all activities on appropriate logs.
Maintains clinical skills and knowledge of pharmacotherapy by reviewing literature and attending in-services, seminars and conferences
Pharmacists' duties are extended to include overseeing of the Pharmacy technician functions as required by Pharmacy Board rules
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred
Registered Pharmacist License in state(s) of practice
Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in an acute-care setting or one (1) year of recent experience in home infusion therapy
Experience with compounding infused drugs
Proven record of evaluating and monitoring drug therapies for home care patients
Good organizational and time-management skills
Participation and membership in professional societies and organizations is desirable
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexible schedule with the ability to work on-call evenings and weekends on an as-scheduled basis
Percentage of Travel: 0-25%-Minimal travel may be required
**To perform this role will required constant sitting and typing on a keyboard with fingers, and occasionally standing, and walking. The physical requirements will be the ability to push/pull and lift/carry 10-30 lbs**

* The Pharmacist is responsible for daily operations, personnel management and regulatory compliance of pharmacy services for the facility, when on duty without the Director being present

Qualifications
Education:
