The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting with the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. The incumbent is responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Duties and responsibilities include assisting and coaching pharmacy technicians in the operation of the pharmacy systems and ensures compliance to the company's policies and procedures. Employees model and deliver the highest level of quality healthcare while working directly with patients and their families, doctors and other medical personnel. Supervision is received from the Pharmacist who reviews work for attainment of desired objectives and conformity with departmental policies and procedures through conferences, personal inspections and review of report.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews and complies with the Pharmacy Technician Code of Conduct.
Helps healthcare providers and patients by greeting them in person or by phone; answering questions and request; referring inquiries to the Pharmacist that require their attention.
Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level: anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
Maintains knowledge of asset protection techniques, creates claims for order errors and damaged goods.
Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Performs duties assigned by the Pharmacist such as utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct and checking for possible interactions.
Reports, immediately, prescription error to the Pharmacist and adheres to company policies and procedures in regard to pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
Follows all applicable government regulations including HIPAA, Medicare and Co-pay requirements.
Engages patients by offering assistance, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required.
Directs and assists team members as needed to maintain workflow and meet/ complete deadlines as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist on duty.
Processes claims for 3rd party reimbursement efficiently and correctly to third-party insurance providers to obtain payment.
Earns and maintains certification and licensure as required per state regulations. Attends training and completes as requested by the Pharmacy Manager and acquires continuing education credits.
Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
High School or equivalent; experience can substitute for education on a year for year basis above the minimum required
Board of Pharmacy technician registration; maintain current licensure and certification for state
Minimum one (1) year of experience in a pharmacy setting to include pharmacy/medical data entry experience
PAY RANGE:
$16.5 - $23.56 Hourly

The typical pay range for this role is:
$60.00 - $73.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.

Basic Qualifications

Ensures dispensary staff adheres to all dispensary policies and procedures
Involved in recruitment and hiring of potential dispensary staff
Responsible for training dispensary personnel on day-to-day operations
Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures
Any other duties related to the pharmacist and management role as required
Qualification and Education Requirements
Possess the necessary supervisory/management skills and/or experience to supervise the dispensary

Job Responsibilities:
Orders and received medication from appropriate source and conducts inventory of controlled substances
Reports all variances as required by state and federal regulations
Prepares accurately medication doses for patients in levels and dosage amounts as prescribed
Keeps adequate control over requesting and dispensing of all drugs and pharmaceutical supplies
Reviews and interprets the prescription of inpatient and outpatient using computerized patient profiles to ensure the appropriateness of dosage and to determine the significance of potential drug-drug interactions
Contacts and confers with healthcare provides concerting the appropriate drug, dose, interval, drug allergy and drug-drug interaction
Fills automated dispensing machines and accurately prepares and dispenses appropriate amount of inpatient and outpatient medication.
Required qualifications:
Active License in the State of Florida as Registered Pharmacist
Graduated from accredited school of Pharmacy as Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D. or equivalent)
Experience working in substance/behavioral treatment center required
Current CPR Certification preferred

Navigate Benefits & Authorizations: Conduct comprehensive benefit investigations, manage prior authorizations, and coordinate benefits to minimize patient out-of-pocket costs.

Maintain Accurate Records: Collect and maintain confidential patient information, including allergies, contact details, and payment methods, while upholding all HIPAA regulations.
Support Clinical Integrity: Direct all clinical inquiries and patient concerns to a licensed pharmacist to ensure patient safety and proper care.
Utilize Technology: Leverage pharmacy operating systems and other software tools to manage patient cases, track communications, and ensure efficient service delivery.
What You'll Bring (Qualifications & Skills)
High school diploma or GED.
Active Florida Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting OR one (1) year of experience in specialty pharmacy.
Prior authorization experience required.
Strong knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology.
Benefit investigation experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills.
Basic computation skills.
Bilingual - English and Spanish preferred.
Microsoft Office or Google Suite proficiency.
RMA or CMA certified preferred, but not required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
