Primary Function The incumbent in this position serves as a Pharmacy Technician for the Cherokee Service Unit under the Cherokee Indian Hospital Authority. The incumbent for this position has prior and/or initial experience as a pharmacy technician. The incumbent is responsible for the provision of technical and support duties associated with the provision of pharmaceutical services to the patient population that is served by the organization. The technician fully assists the pharmacist in the preparation and provision of medications in the fulfillment of patient care functions. Prepackages single use medication units for inpatient, emergency department, and automated dispensing cabinets. Compounds bulk supplies such as ointments and solutions following appropriate guidelines for aseptic and pharmaceutically elegant preparations. Correctly labels and stores all prepared medication supplies. Maintains sufficient prepackaged medication supply to meet after hour dispensing requirements. General Department Duties Maintains the pharmacy and storage areas in a neat, clean, and orderly condition by organizing, dusting, and cleaning as needed. Remove and dispose of all unnecessary materials. Patient sensitive materials must be shredded and disposed of in a manner to maintain confidentiality. Remove and provide for proper disposal of expired and deteriorated medications. Return medications not retrieved by patients back to stock according to accepted pharmacy protocol. Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes. **Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at** **Covenant Health Roane** **. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Pharmacy Technician to work 40 hours per week, 4 days per week. As well as r** **otating weekend shifts every 3rd or 4th weekend.** **Hours of the facility are Monday-Friday** **6:30AM to 5:00PM and Saturday and Sunday 7:00AM to 5:00PM.** **_Job Summary_** The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy provides assistance to the Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy. Activities include the preparation of and filling of prescriptions, taking pharmacy inventory and processing product returns. The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy ensures that all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and records all activity in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines. This job frequently communicates with customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment of all orders. **_Responsibilities_** + Assists pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy. + Prepares medication for dispensing, packaging and shipment. + Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out of date items from the inventory. + Enters medical supply orders in pharmacy system. + Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in an amicable and professional manner. + Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction. + Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system. + Maintains knowledge of and abides by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations. **_Qualifications_** + Tennessee State Pharmacy Technician license/registration required + National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) preferred + IV experience preferred + In-patient hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred + Flexibility in working schedule + Ability to work in a group + Strong verbal and written communication skills required + Strong customer service skills required + Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks is required + Ability to manage several tasks at the same time; Ability to focus on tasks; Ability to evaluate operating conditions; Ability to exercise sound judgment + Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets + _Customer/vendor credentialing may be required (this may include vaccinations).
