We are affiliated with several Schools of Pharmacy and offers PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. The residency and student experiential programs at CSMC continue to grow with every successive year, where nearly 100 residents have graduated from the PGY1 pharmacy residency program since 1985 and more than 200 student rotations are offered at CSMC annually.

The full time Pharmacy Technician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Ca will perform a variety of tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist. What's this role all about?
Prepares, delivers, and distributes medications in an accurate and timely manner to appropriate care areas according to policies and procedures, while at the same time prioritizing workflow and maintaining required documentation
Uses technology safely and effectively to prepare, distribute, deliver and refill medications and services to patients
Effectively uses the electronic medical record to support patient care
Prepares accurate and timely compounded sterile products appropriate to area following policies and procedures, best practices and standards of practice
Assists pharmacists with patient medication reconciliation functions, including screening of patients, obtaining medication lists, and documentation of medication reconciliation activities
Communicates effectively with members of the healthcare team and patients, and willingly participates in new initiatives and tasks as needed to support patient care
Performs inventory control functions
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED required
Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the California State Board of Pharmacy
Ability to perform pharmacy calculations involving ratios, proportions and percentages
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to use software applications and operate technological devices
Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of State, Federal and Agency standards to comply with regulations
Previous hospital experience preferred

Basic Qualifications
BS in Pharmacy or Pharmacist Degree from an accredited educational institution.

Description Of Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a Clinical Pharmacist and consistent with California state pharmacy regulations to provide non-discretionary tasks, the Pharmacy Desk Technician prepares Specialty Pharmacy orders for filling, maintains work areas, follows up on narcotic scripts, and enters medication profiles in a timely manner.

1. Refills:

2. Perform data entry:
· Perform data entry of patient medication profiles and patient chart audits
· Discharge patients from CPR+ at the end of therapy
3. Pharmacy Liaison:
· Act as liaison for the Pharmacy department
· Communicate with doctors, nurses, and hospitals regarding patient care
· Perform triplicate request and being able to follow up in a timely matter
· Being able to communicate well with the pharmacy staff and supervisor
· Coordinate triplicate requests and their documentation as appropriate including exemption forms for all narcotic patients
4. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
5. Participate in the pharmacy's Performance Improvement program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.

7. Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records.

3. Current knowledge of all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations.
4. Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets and use of the internet, as well as word processing, and efficient use of the internet and e-mail.

Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express technical issues in “layman” terms.
Education and/or Experience:

Accurately processes requests for missing medications with appropriate charging.
Timely generation of medication administration records, medication summary sheets, food/drug interaction reports and others as needed.
Minimal incorrect entries (wrong patient, wrong drug, wrong strength, etc) as reviewed by pharmacists or from MAR correction forms.
Preparation of outpatient prescriptions for dispensing by pharmacist:
Accurately enters patient information into computer system.
Prepares medications for pharmacist to check prior to transfer to patient container.

What You'll Bring to the Team:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
8+ years of experience as a pharmacist, with at least 5 years as a PIC or pharmacy manager.
Strong knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations.
Active pharmacist license in California, unencumbered; willingness to obtain additional licenses in other states.
Regulatory, compliance, or audit experience, with demonstrated success managing inspections and audits.
Knowledge of compounding regulations (USP , , ).
Mail order or central fill pharmacy experience.

Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy. Job Summary
Through effective leadership and coordination with a team of direct reports, the primary purpose of the Pharmacist II, Nuclear is to manage, facilitate, and oversee execution of day-to-day operations of the nuclear pharmacy. The Pharmacist II, Nuclear has completed all necessary training and is licensed to be a practicing nuclear pharmacist in their state of occupation. As such, this job has responsibility for optimizing pharmacy operations and procedures to ensure consistent and efficient delivery to control costs, minimize waste, maximize customer satisfaction and deliver positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with Federal and state regulatory agencies. In addition, this job has responsibility for managing inventory, processing orders, compounding patient-specific doses of drugs and directing a team of drivers to deliver medications after they have been tested for quality.

Shift/Schedule
* 40 hours per week
* Various schedule with a mix of days, nights, weekend, holiday and on call work. Rotating call and holidays may be required.

Responsibilities
* Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist, including compounding of nuclear medications, testing for quality through chromatography, and directing distribution of medication using a team of drivers.
* Assesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.

* Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the nuclear pharmacy business.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
* Valid Pharmacist's license in the state in which the pharmacy operates, or is in the process of obtaining a valid license preferred
* Must complete at least 200 hours of academic training in a nuclear pharmacy through an accredited program
* Working knowledge of biohazardous waste management procedures
* Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals
* Strong customer service skills
* Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting and holding of small objects
* Demonstrated manual dexterity in order to dispense doses
* Ability to lift containers weighing up to 55 pounds
* Willingness to travel if needed
* Must hold a valid driver's license in the state in which the pharmacy is located or obtain one upon hire
* Comfortable driving in all types of weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, fog, wind and sun)
* Deliveries occur during both nighttime and daytime conditions
* Flexibility to work various shifts or overtime as needed
* Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets)
* Ability to work weekends or be in a weekend rotation
* Ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation
