Job Summary:
Acuity is looking for a Pharmacist to support our contract in the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Pharmacist to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.
Fills prescriptions, verifying instructions from physicians on the proper amounts of medication to be given.
Checks for patient drug contraindications.
Responsible for verifying the dosage regimen for accuracy and specified amount is within the standard dosing range and frequency.
Compounds and dispenses medications accurately for delivery to patient care areas.
Ensures prescriptions are filled accurately and in a timely manner.
Provides medication information and education to medical staff and patients.
Participates in medical care conferences as directed by the CMO.
Maintains the security of controlled substances as well as an accurate log of dispensation, waste, etc.
Maintains adequate stock levels of medications that are high-use (utilization-based) to include key medications for unforeseen events such as outbreaks. (Influenza as an example).
Develops a re-supply system with the senior logistician that ensures critical use (must have) medications are readily available throughout the medical footprint supported.
Once the prescription is filled, file the prescription.
Oversees the work of pharmacy technicians.
Performs administrative functions such as answering phones and stocking shelves.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols and the Privacy Act.
Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Requires a graduate degree from an accredited Pharmacy School approved by a state board of Pharmacy or accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
Hold and maintain an active and unrestricted Pharmacist License free from any pending adverse actions and the ability to be favorably credentialed by Acuity policy.
Minimum of five years of experience as a registered practicing pharmacist.
All Healthcare Providers and medical support staff must have a recent clinical experience in patient care for a least 6 months out of the past year.
Experience in both Hospital and Ambulatory Pharmacy, and expertise in both outpatient and inpatient drug therapies.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high-paced environment.
Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
Must have a valid U.S. passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License.
Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.

The Pharmacy Specialist assists the Pharmacy team in the administrative and technical operations of the pharmacy. Primary Responsibilities:
Drug Management & Compliance: The Pharmacy Specialist assists staff in the receipt, storage, dispensing, and return of drug products while acting as a liaison with Pharmacy management, Clinical teams, Project Managers, and Operations. This role prepares and reviews the accuracy of labels, assists in packaging of doses, and accounts for all dosage units entering and leaving the Clinic per FDA regulations and guidelines and per study protocol requirements. The specialist assures proper protocol and regulatory procedures are followed in the receipt and handling of drug by team members and other staff responsible for dosing.
Quality Assurance: The Pharmacy Specialist assists in assuring that study drug product prepared and/or checked by pharmacy technical staff is of the highest quality standards to ensure the safety of the study participants and integrity of the study. This includes assisting with the completion of all required in-house sterile technique skills tests for all staff.
Training & Development: The Pharmacy Specialist assists in the continued evaluation of a training program for Clinic staff that interacts with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures.
Sponsor Relations & Study Close-Out: The Pharmacy Specialist interacts with sponsors and clients in regard to potential and on-going studies, explaining K2 Med procedures and responding to sponsor/client requests regarding handling of drug, close-out issues, and other operational matters. This role assures close-out of studies are handled properly, including ensuring drug is returned to sponsor, stored correctly, or otherwise managed depending on protocol and sponsor requirements.
Additional Duties: The Pharmacy Specialist performs other duties as assigned to support the expanding needs of both Phase 1 and outpatient pharmacy operations.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent Required
Pharmacy Technician Training Program Certificate of Completion (must be provided to the organization prior to start date)
Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years' of experience in a retail community pharmacy setting

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Assist the pharmacist in maintaining all operations of the pharmacy department
Perform accurate and efficient data entry, billing, product dispensing and labeling, and release to patient functions
Collect the correct monies when releasing prescriptions at will call as well as provide accurate change to patients
Submit accurate and necessary supply and medication orders under the direction of the pharmacist
Follow all medication guidelines as well as policies and procedures for receiving, filling, dispensing, logging, maintaining loss prevention procedures, and avoiding diversion for all inventory including controlled medications

Complete a 340b eligibility check for every prescription fill to determine if the prescription meets eligibility criteria
Demonstrate the ability to navigate the electronic health record (EHR) of patients to find all relevant information necessary for prescription processing
Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy, appropriateness, and determine formulas and ingredients needed
Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients under the supervision of the pharmacist
Ensure that all control drug policies and procedures as required by state, federal, and organizational guidelines are followed
Accurately enter and maintain patient demographic information
Performs troubleshooting functions for third-party discrepancies and other prescription filling issues
Answer the telephone and assist patients at the front counter as well as through curbside pickup to maintain the workflow of the pharmacy
Utilize the phone language translation service to communicate with patients that speak another language
Responsible for maintaining a current and valid license as required by state, federal and pharmacy guidelines
