POSITION OVERVIEW
The Pharmacy Technician performs pharmacy-related functions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to inventory, prepare, mix, and deliver investigational medications for use in clinical trials. The Pharmacy Technician also performs administrative functions as required for clinical trials. All duties and responsibilities shall be performed in compliance with all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), rules and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare sterile compounded investigational medications for use in accordance with USP standards, including chapters 795 and 797 for patients participating in clinical trials.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper operation and maintenance of compounding equipment (Class II Biological Safety Cabinet)
Cleans and maintain pharmacy shelves and work areas as required.
Document and maintain the drug inventory through inventory control practices.
Order, receive, store, dispense, compound, dispose and maintain inventory of pharmacy supplies.
Ensure the security of all drug and pharmacy supplies.
Maintain an orderly, clean environment including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies.
Enter data into the computer system, recording delivery, changes in inventory, expired drug, returned drug, and other items as needed.
Maintain the temperature monitoring system for ambient storage cabinets, refrigerators, and freezers.
Separate expired drug from stock and prepare it for return or destruction,
Perform general clerical duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings and proper drug handling and storage practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Current Pharmacy Technician License in Florida required.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) License strongly preferred.
Sterile Compounding Certificate preferred.
High school diploma or GED certificate required.
Experience
Hospital experience in intravenous (IV) mixing with aseptic technique.
Minimum of one year compounding pharmacy experience (sterile compounding).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times, may require to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
