Summary Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information to process prescriptions. Assists the pharmacists in performing technical duties related to the distribution of drugs to patients. Monitors medication inventory levels and places orders to restock. Develops strong relationships with colleagues and customers. Supports pharmacological services by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, placing and expediting orders, reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, compounding sterile and non-sterile products, and other pharmaceutical therapies. Job Duties Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription orders. Adheres to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations. Fills medication orders accurately and efficiently. Assures all medications are properly labeled, checked by a pharmacist, and dispensed in a timely manner. Prioritizes workload, maintains organization, and coordinates activities with other team members. Monitors medication expiration dates and ensures no expired medications are in circulation. Complies with all record keeping related to controlled substances and maintains all inventories. Communicates all drug information requests to a pharmacist. Demonstrates and maintains competency with pharmacy equipment and duties. Answers the phone and attends to customer needs in a timely manner. Assists with orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues. Maintains adequate inventory of prescription and/or over the counter products in the designated areas. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and Active enrollment in a pre-pharmacy or a pharmacy degree program at an accredited school of pharmacy. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Good math skills needed for counting, measuring and weighing medications. Basic computer skills. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of inventory control. Knowledge of brand name/generic medications. Knowledge and ability to use pharmacy automation. Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
