Expansion began in 1924 when the H.E. Cottage was built.
In 1937, the band hall was added at a cost of $1,600, and the next year the board purchased the district’s first school bus, which ran only along highway 83.
1940 saw the erection of a corrugated iron shed to be used as a “temporary” manual training center.
Three years later an instrument storeroom was added to the band hall. “The Den” was added south of the Tax Office in 1944, with doors opening into the cafeteria, which is not the Superintendent’s office.
Finally, in 1958, a $2,250,000 bond issue was passed for the building of a new high school.
Approximately 20 members from the PSJA High School Class of 1966 joined the festivities, which gave them an opportunity to gather with classmates and reminisce.

In the 1987-88 school year Raul Longoria Elementary was awarded the Blue Ribbon School designation.
On June 6, 2007, The Dallas Morning News reported that Arturo Guajardo, the superintendent of PSJA ISD, and board members Raul Navarro, Evangelina De Leon, and Rogelio Rodriguez, were indicted on corruption charges. .
On January 24, 2011, former PSJA superintendent Arturo Guajardo and board members Rogelio "Little Roy" Rodriguez, Rogelio "Big Roy" Navarro, and Evangelina "Vangie" De Leon pleaded guilty and were sentenced to probation, fines, and prison terms.
They also released a report in March 2012 featuring PSJA’s College3 initiative and “College for All” strategy.
The PSJA Centennial Community Kick-Off Celebration is the first of several events and activities that will take place during the 2019-20 school year to celebrate the district’s 100-year legacy.
