Summary:
Under limited direction and supervision, underwrites and markets assigned
products by providing high levels of risk assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine underwriting acceptability. May provide high level of
financial analysis to determine credit quality.
A typical day will include the following:
Participates in the producer management process which may include, but is not limited to, premium collections.
Prepares underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or
decisions within established authority limits. Minimum authority is $1,000,000 (Surety).
Prepares and participates in marketing activities within the region to promote the development of new business.
Gathers and analyzing information, applies appropriate underwriting techniques necessary to make an accurate evaluation of acceptability of risk. May evaluate credit quality.
Prepares and participates in proposals to producers and/or accounts
negotiating terms and conditions.
May ensure credit quality of accounts managed while maintaining and updating underwriting files.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
At least three years of commercial surety underwriting experience preferably with a carrier.
AFSB designation preferred.
The ability to manage multiple priorities, generate new business and be detail oriented.

Underwrite new and renewal entertainment related accident and health business
Achieves profitable growth through effective use of underwriting and business skills in assigned territory
Work on regional renewals. See that renewal underwriting is started at least 60/90 days prior to anniversary date and ensure management through completion.
Maintain performance standards and meet satisfactory quote turnaround times
Selects new risks based on established company/departmental guidelines and within delegated authority
Coordinate compliance issues and review of marketing materials and brochures with compliance department
Provide communication and direction for all processing requirements, including policy issuance and endorsements, premium registration and collection issues.
Work to generate new business revenues by developing prospects, visiting producers, and participating in presentations
Partner with Business Development Team to foster a constructive working relationship with all internal partners (regional operations, compliance, marketing, policy issuance, sales and claims) through day to day contact
Collaborate with regional teams to prepare budgets, business plans, marketing strategies and establishing long term goals.

Qualifications
College degree in business related field
1-3 years of underwriting experience with the ability to demonstrate leadership, initiative and influence management skills, prior experience in accident and health underwriting is preferred.
Product focus includes Business Travel Accident, Out of Country Medical, and Participant Accident.
Proven ability to provide direction, technical guidance and developmental opportunities to promote team excellence and achieve business goals.
