Its products include RF coils, which act as antennae to transmit and receive radio frequency signals from the human body; MRI patient monitors, which is used in the MRI suite during an MRI scan; bedside patient monitors for bedside monitoring in various acute care departments and ambulatory surgery centers, including the operating room, neonatal intensive care unit, emergency room, and post-operative recovery areas; and central station monitoring and telemetry, which provides patient monitoring, CIS connectivity, alarm surveillance, and documentation of up to 16 telemetry transmitters. This segment sells its products to original equipment manufacturers, group purchasing organizations, research hospitals, and universities. The Energy Technology segment develops high-temperature superconducting materials and related devices for transmission and distribution of electrical power. Philips Medical Systems MR, Inc. was formerly known as Intermagnetics General Corporation. As a result of acquisition of Intermagnetics General Corporation by Koninklijke Philips N.V., Intermagnetics General Corporation s name was changed. The company was founded in 1971 and is headquartered in Latham, New York. As of November 9, 2006, Philips Medical Systems MR, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of Koninklijke Philips N.V.
