This position is expected to become an expert on all forms of surface operations and downhole artificial lift, including Rod Pump, ESP, Plunger Lift, Gas Lift, PAGL, Intermittent Lift, Jet Pump, and Progressive Cavity Pump. * Communicate with the engineering team to choose the correct forms of artificial lift, troubleshoot wells, test new forms of technology, and minimize failure rates. * Lead failure meetings to identify root causes and improvement opportunities with cross-function team of engineering, workover, chemical and lease operator representatives. * Install calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair pump off controllers, radios, and drives. * Troubleshoot problem wells using multiple tools and techniques both in the field and computer. * Thorough familiarity with all configuration and inspection of rod pumps, including annual pumping unit inspections and repairs. * Troubleshoot all forms of artificial lift through personal knowledge or external resources. * Work with a multi-disciplined team to complete maintenance on well pad surface equipment. * Perform artificial lift design using Rodstar. * Complete failure analysis on wells before turning over to engineering. * Coordinate with workover team during well intervention. * Operate and perform minor repairs on model D and E Echometers. * Demonstrate proficiency with PC based computer applications including but not limited to MS Office applications, Cygnet, TAM, OFM, Avocet, XBal. * Assist in evaluation of chemical programs, maintaining consistent communication with the chemical team. * Supervise crews and cranes on pumping unit moves and repairs. * Attend pump teardowns and work with pump shops, engineering and the chemical team to complete Root Cause Failure Analysis on all downhole equipment failure. * Mentor lease operators on troubleshooting wells and issues at the facilities. * Handle all regulatory matters including handling the H-5s, H-15s, and MITs * Supervise well stimulations and smaller intervention work including wireline, slickline, swabbing units. * Handle miscellaneous jobs as needed, including flowback, data integrity reviews, hot watering, and temporary assistant foreman duties. The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline. **About the role** At our Middle Point facility in Murfreeboro, TN, we convert landfill gas into pipeline quality natural gas (High Btu or Renewable Natural Gas). Our Operations Technician operates the landfill gas processing facility. We process the landfill gas by removing the majority of the non-methane components including CO2, water, sulfur and volatile and non-volatile organic compounds to attain pipeline quality. The RNG Operator will operate and maintain Landfill gas to High BTU processing facility; which will include Guild gas process, Gas Compressors, CO2 removal system, Thermal-Oxidizers, and H2S removal systems. We also perform intermediate to sophisticated level Instrument and Control repair, maintenance, calibration and solving. **Schedule** There will be four set schedules of 12 hours shifts from either 7a-7p or 7p-7a to all for 24/7 coverage of the site. The schedule is subject to change per business needs and management discretion. **Key accountabilities** + Own the safe operation of the plant during assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards. + Make periodic inspections of plant equipment to resolve accurate and normal operating conditions. Check and record operational data such as fluid levels, temperatures and pressures, compare to trends and have the ability to make corrections as needed. + Review daily operating reports and other records to ensure specified operating characteristics in control of the plant equipment. + Perform preventive maintenance and solving on plant instrumentation and equipment. + Detect and correct faulty and malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components, devices and equipment. + Operate sophisticated instrumentation and process control systems. + Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters. + Tackle and repair electrical system wiring from control wiring up to 480 volts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Involved in start-ups, major maintenance, significant failures, overhauls, and high-end trouble shooting and advanced diagnostic repair skills on wide variety of equipment. * Lead by example and be a subject matter expert and role model to Field Service Technicians (FST) and assist in their technical skill and professional development. * Ensure USAC maintains run time of natural gas compression units per contractual agreements. * Respond quickly and accurately to customer inquiries and communicate with ASM. * Partner closely with the ASM to ensure a smooth and efficient Area operation. * Maintain and safely operate company vehicle/commercial truck according to company guidelines. * Communicate with sales team to identify new sales, customer or equipment opportunities. * Utilize the WMS and partner with a parts department to ensure sufficient parts inventory for each unit in Area. * Ensure Area units are clean following good housekeeping rules and maintain safe working conditions. * Assist in building the USAC culture through positively representing our image and helping recruit new FSTs. * Assist in supervisory duties in the absence of the ASM or as assigned by the ASM. * Understand and follow company handbook, and all company or customer safety and environmental policies. * Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Skills/Capabilities and Education: * Technical or trade school certification, college degree or additional work experience in related field. * At least 7 years of experience in gas compression with preference to CAT, Ariel and/or Cummins. * CAT Gas Engine II, Troubleshooting, Electronics certifications; CAT 3500, 3600, ADEM 3 and ADEM 4, Ariel Mechanics 1 and 2, Murphy panel a plus. * Valid driver's license with a Motor Vehicle Record history acceptable to USA Compression. * Strong interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal skills. * Excellent customer service skills with customer field personnel, onsite vendors, and other employees. * Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc. * Ability to be self-managed and work independently with little or no supervision. Prior management experience is a plus. * High degree of mechanical ability including electrical and natural gas compression. * Ability to teach and communicate both technical and soft skills to FSTs aiding in their training and development. * Experience reading and understanding technical manuals. * Thorough knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations. * Experience in configuring natural gas compression equipment. * Solid computer and communication technology skills. * Ability and interest in further developing people and business management skills. * Ability and flexibility to work extended hours including periodic on-call weekends. * Applicant must have the ability to legally work in the U.S. Working Conditions: * Typically, an LST's work day consists of driving a USA compression service vehicle to customer locations to perform repair and maintenance activities. * Travel is required up to 75% of the time worked. * Periodic lifting requirements in excess of 50 lbs. * Ability to stand and walk on uneven and varied terrain, climb ladders and stairs; and stoop, squat, kneel, crouch and crawl depending on the task requirements. * Exposure to extremes in temperature and weather conditions depending upon assigned location. * Some exposure to high noise levels in excess of 85dBA that require ear protection, as well as exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials. * Working conditions in natural gas compression vary from one job site to another. Some job sites are indoors in compressor stations while other sites are outside, exposed to a variety of weather conditions. * There is a strong emphasis on safety while working with heavy equipment and machinery.
