Starts machine and places glass or mirrors on conveyor of machine. Fabricates glass to the specification requested by the customer, and verifies program geometric dimension based off work orders received. Moves glass from machine and wipe edges to remove polishing compound. Requires the use of an overhead crane to lift and maneuver glass onto the machine. Follows work instructions by reading labels to expedite the production process; understands and communicates paperwork and labels/picking list. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs. Transports materials including glass from one position/location to another in an effort to expedite the production process. Utilize a tape measure to ensure product is within the product specifications Strap glass to the carts and or trucks so they are safe for moving Daily inspections - Look for any unsafe objects, check equipment, etc. Skills You Bring: MINIMUM SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS include the following: Experience in a production or manufacturing environment; Glass industry is preferred (not required). HEAVY LIFTING - Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted. Must be able to lift up to 150 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to push weights greater than 150lbs with a team. Must be able to accurately read a tape measure. Must be able to follow instructions from Supervisor, Plant Manager and/or Branch Manager. Ability to work in varied temperatures consistent with same climate conditions of the region in a non-climate controlled facility (Heat, Cold, humidity). Experience using hoists and cranes a plus. Day or Overnight shifts available: 2-2-3 schedule (work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days, off 2 days & off 3 days) every two weeks you will be schedule to work 36 hours one week and 48 hours the other. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Responsible for the operating of converting and packaging equipment. They will work within a team to produce quality products at or above quality expectations driven by work orders and product specifications. Adjusts equipment as needed to respond to feedback provided by the line quality technician present on the production line. Operators will also use a mechanical aptitude to assist in planned maintenance events as well as support R&D on new internal and external driven projects within Tufco. Essential Functions: Operates and/or supports a wet or dry wipe converting line at communicated performance standards while maintaining quality expectations Makes mechanical adjustments and alters machine settings as necessary to maintain performance and quality as raw material inputs change Operates in a safe manner and is acutely aware of people, equipment, and environment in the work place Monitors and verifies the quality of product periodically throughout the run Maintains and follows all 5S concepts established for the manufacturing area Ensures that all production reporting and data collection is completed in a timely manner Contributes to both primary and support roles for the department Uses experience and technical aptitude to solve problems Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficient math, reading and comprehension skills Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of experience as a machine operator or in a supporting machine operator role Work Requirements: Able to lift 50lbs Strong computer skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Strong mechanical aptitude Works in a safe and ethical manner at all times Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn and have good attendance Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general details of the essential responsibilities being performed in the job.
