What We Do:
We provide essential health screening services at various locations through three main types of events:
Types of Events:
Biometric Screenings: Height, weight, waist measurements, body fat percentage assessments, and blood pressure readings
Fingerstick Events: Blood samples collected using lancets and capillary tubes, combined with comprehensive biometric screening
Venipuncture Events: Professional blood draws using straight or butterfly needles (typically collecting 2-4 tubes), with centrifuging samples as required, alongside biometric screening
At All Events:
We prioritize staffing with skilled phlebotomists
You may be assigned to participant registration, biometric screening, blood drawing, or a combination of these roles
Onsite training provided for event flow and use of CardioChek+ machines and A1cNow cartridge testing when necessary
Set up and take-down of all equipment and supplies under the guidance of experienced senior staff
Dress code is solid black scrubs with closed-toe shoes
Paid pre-event virtual training via Microsoft Teams

Start rate minimum of $23.00 per hour + mileage PRN shifts Monday/Friday and as needed (4:00am-12:00pm) Phlebotomist travels to Long-Term Care Facilities (LTC) and other offsite collection facilities to collect and process specimens for testing. The LTC phlebotomist is expected to βfloatβ between long-term care facilities and patient homes to provide quality phlebotomy skills and specimen processing at each facility depending on need.
Responsibilities:
Perform all phlebotomy (venipunctures and capillary punctures)/processing duties as outlined in the departmental procedure manual.
Follow proper procedures for patient identification and labeling of laboratory specimens.
Process specimens to maintain specimen integrity for specimen transport to testing facility.
Perform training responsibilities if needed.
Operate and maintain departmental equipment, including but not limited to, computers and printers.
Correctly read, collect, and receive all laboratory tests ordered.
Complete training when new procedures are introduced, or current procedures are changed.
Comply with all LTC and other facility, departmental, company, safety and regulatory policies and procedures.
Work as a team and perform all duties according to CompuNet's behavioral standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be high school graduate or equivalent.
Phlebotomy experience 6 months experience (as phlebotomist or role with at least 75% phlebotomy) + 100 successful venipunctures.
Experience working in long-term care setting is a plus.
Must have reliable transportation for driving to each facility.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must maintain and show proof of liability automotive insurance.
Must be insurable on corporate auto insurance policy determined by motor vehicle record report.
Safety & Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand for the entirety of the shift.
Exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals.
Adherence to safety, ergonomic, and health policies.
Compliance with PPE requirements in lab or biohazard areas.
Completion of required safety training and health evaluations promptly.
Proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety hazards, promoting safety awareness.

Job Duties:
Greets patients using the AIDET (PHLEBOT) model, giving instructions and directions as necessary to provide quality patient experiences. Evaluates physician orders for type of specimens, time of draw and any specific specimen handling requirements. Uses work lists to organize draws.
Uses hospital and laboratory computer systems to obtain information and clarify requests. Uses a PDA for patient identification, various printers and phones to communicate with other departmental staff, obtain labels and organize work. Communicates with physician offices to obtain diagnosis coding information and do problem solving. Communicates with pharmacy and other patient care staff to assure proper, timely collection of various medication levels and tolerance tests.
Safely collects quality samples according to laboratory policies and procedures (for the accurate and timely completion of testing). Uses a variety of collection devices/sharps to obtain specimens. Collects culture specimens as required to meet quality goals. Handles a variety of body fluids in order to obtain and process specimens for laboratory testing.
Cleans, organizes, rotates and stocks phlebotomy work areas, carts, OP draw sites and inpatient units to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
Must have knowledge of collection and ordering requirements for reference labs as well as other specialty testing labs. Demonstrates knowledge of Laboratory Compliance policies and procedures as well as internal mandatory computer based learning modules.
Required to collect specimens at other healthcare facilities as needed. Required to cover at other laboratory sites across the system as needed. Utilizes courier car as necessary. Must meet required safe driver standards.
Attends in-services and continuing education seminars to enhance personal and professional growth
Enhances professional growth and development of self, department staff, other hospital personnel, community and students by participation in continuing education, and in-service training and the School of Medical Technology.
Implements ICARE principles using communication skills and human relations to promote quality patient care and productive working environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
