**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ Self-introduction to donors prior to phlebotomy and understand their health requirements.
+ Performs Haemonetics Autopheresis setup and programming with understanding of alarm signals during operation, shut down, and in the event of power failure.
+ Performs phlebotomy procedures in accordance with SOPs, to include arm preparations, collection volumes, restarts, and cell loss procedures.
+ Monitors the safety and care of the donor during the plasmapheresis process.
+ Maintains alertness for donor reactions and assists with reactions and notifies appropriate Medical Staff, as needed.
+ Performs test sample collection and identification, including NAT testing protocols.
+ Maintains equipment calibration, standardization, and cleaning schedules according to SOPs.
+ Reports damaged/faulty equipment to management/supervisor.
+ Ensures the donor floor is properly stocked with supplies and soft goods.
+ Provides a high level of customer service and strives to meet all production goals.
+ Performs prompt and competent response to donor complaints, reactions, or deferrals.
+ Ensures accurate recording of (i) donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs; and (ii) incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
+ Facilitates donor flow throughout the plasma collection center with a sense of urgency, minimizing wait time by working carefully and efficiently and alerts management of donor flow issues.
+ Follows all SOPs and regulatory policies and procedures, including the employee handbook.
+ Responsible for remaining current on SOPs changes.
+ Follows all Health Safety & Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
+ Explains plasma collection center policies & rules, educates new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from plasma, donation process, tests performed, proper nutrition, donor fee structure, bonuses, center promotions, and any other information pertinent to the donor.
+ Prepares plasma collection center for audits by maintaining a clean, efficient work environment times and ensure sufficient operating supplies.
+ Maintains data integrity and confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and plasma collection center information.

Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED minimum 1 year of experience
