Responsibilities
* Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
* Ensure decontamination procedures are followed and update patient information as needed.
* Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
* Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods, such as urine or fecal, in a courteous manner.
* Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
* Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
* Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
* Verify test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure accuracy.
* Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples at the required temperature.
* Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them.
Essential Skills
* Proficiency in specimen collection, phlebotomy, patient care, and venipuncture.
* Minimum of 1 year work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Strong communication skills.

Work Environment
This position involves working at a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Upper Manhattan, performing 30-50 blood draws per day. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, with every other Saturday from 8am to 12pm.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
