Required Education

Job Accountabilities (Responsibilities)
Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
Administer oral solutions according to established training.
Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.
Ability to navigate a computer and accurately enter data is a requirement to be successful in this role.
Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required, following corporate policies.
Processing specimens including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport as required by test order.
Perform all non-patient facing duties, including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and utilizing email as appropriate.
Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data when required.
Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner and based on frequency, such as maintenance logs and temperature logs.

* Disconnects the donor and handle the disposal of biohazardous waste and contaminated

machines and removes and/or replaces equipment from service, if needed.
* Reports all unsafe situations and conditions to management.
* Maintains/stocks adequate inventory and replenish supplies on plasma carts.
* Able to drive training efficiencies to ensure timeliness and compliance.
* Responsible for troubleshooting machine alarms/alerts and perform QCs routinely (defined as

Possess office skills such as but not limited to data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner, answering the phone, transferring calls, faxing, printing, filing, cleaning, and organizing. The Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner is seeking to fill the Medical Examiner/Forensic Pathologist position. This office serves Clark County, Nevada, which includes Las Vegas and surrounding urban and rural areas, with a combined population of over 2.4 million people. The office also provides autopsy services to neighbor counties and is dual accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) and the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners (IACME). With ABMDI-certified investigative staff the office provides 24/7 coverage, and has excellent administrative support, a family counselor, and highly skilled and experienced forensic technicians. The office currently has seven full-time Medical Examiner positions and enjoys the benefits of locum tenens coverage as well. In 2024 there were 21,020 deaths in Clark County and the office was contacted regarding 9,005 of these cases. The office assumed jurisdiction for 6,053 cases and performed 4,008 examinations which included 2,134 autopsies or partial autopsies and 132 child fatalities (under age 18). The office has excellent working relationships with law enforcement, public health, medical facilities, and local medical schools. It also has active consultation services with Forensic Neuropathologists, Forensic Anthropologists, Forensic Odontologists, Radiologists and Genetic Testing.
The successful candidate will:
* Perform autopsies, head posts, and external examinations
* Actively be engaged in educating fellows, medical students, and other medical trainees
* Provide medical records reviews for cases completed as Medical Examiner Sign-outs
* Conduct pathological, histological, and toxicological analyses

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Completion of a program in Medicine or Osteopathy and must be board-eligible or board-certified in AP or AP/CP (completion of or enrollment in an accredited anatomic pathology or clinical pathology residency) and one (1) year of full-time professional physician experience in a coroner or medical examiner's office OR completion of or enrollment in an accredited fellowship program in Forensic Pathology.
Working Conditions: Work with exposure to infectious and contagious diseases. Work in violent, traumatic or highly charged emotional environments. Work in off-hours situations on an emergency call-out basis.
Licensing and Certification: At time of application, must have completed an anatomic pathology residency AND completed or currently enrolled in a forensic pathology fellowship in an accredited program.
At time of appointment must be licensed as a physician to practice medicine in the State of Nevada and certified, or eligible to be certified, by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic pathology or anatomic/clinical pathology and forensic pathology. If eligible for certification, must complete all board certifications within two (2) years of hire date.
Board certifications must be maintained throughout the course of employment.
Possession of valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.

Minimum:
Experience as a licensed phlebotomist or experience in a clinical laboratory
Prior experience utilizing clerical, computer, and receptionist skills
Desired:
Medical terminology
Prior in phlebotomy and laboratory specimen processing
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
Current Phlebotomy Certificate CPT I issued by the California Department of Public Health.

The ideal candidate must be an experienced phlebotomist who can provide high-quality patient care in both direct and indirect capacities. We are seeking a healthcare professional who takes extreme pride in their work, making patients feel reassured, and well cared for, through a warm and comforting demeanor. They must be able to pay attention to detail and demonstrate strict adherence to best clinical practices. They must have confidence in their phlebotomy skills, strong work ethic, a good understanding of customer service, and be capable of using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite) computer skills for a variety of support functions. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. They must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. They must be aware of chemical hygiene protocols and handling requirements for biohazard materials. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
